ok.. I have a gge908 recoil controll pad that is PS2 style
having difficulties with the right analog stick... any game I try to play when I move the stick up and down it moves on the game left/right and left right on the stick moves up and down

This is the 2nd gamepad I've had do this and it's REALLY starting to piss me off as my brain can't remember that it's backwards

Windows has it calibrated properly and stuff.. just any game it doesn't go those directions.. anywho any help is much appreciated as I just want to smash the damn thing ;)

P.S. I don't wanna take it apart and turn the analog stick if at all possible inside the controller... lol

PC pads are shit period, the whole concept of a pad for a pad for a pc is a silly one, but if its absolutely essential you need to devolve the input device, then you certainly don't want to buy a pc one.

A smarter option is buying a console pad and a converter. Think about how much money Sony and Nintendo have spent on developing their pads over the years. These are the soul input devices for their consoles and as such are technically superior to anything you'll get on the pc that has been chissled together by a couple of monkeys.

So invest in an input device. and use a console pad. I use:

Which is okay if a bit ropey (but its cheap) and can use a Gamecube pad (not the wavebird though :( ), which is far better than any pad available for the PC natively. Then grab a program called JoytoKey and map your pad as mouse/keys instead of direct input (microsoft = shit). This way it will work flawlessly in any game, albeit inferior to keyboard and mouse 90% of the time. The added bonus is that you can use it to control your pc if your a lazy sod

This one supports dreamcast, PS1/2 and Gamecube console controllers:

On a personal note, at the end of the day your crazey if you want to use a pad for the pc beyond racing/flight sims games imo, your sacraficing one of the key reasons pc games are technically superior in the vast majority of genres (and the only ones really worth bothering with beyond the exceptional adventure game of course).

I never use the gcn pad, I mean I've had a couple of gos in GTA:VC with it, but if you want to play seriously, its not worth bothering with. I used it more as a 'remote control' since the wire extends for ages.

If its the keyboard layout that's daunting, this thing is a must:

Bold = advice to read first and try with your current pad.

edit: oh and emulators, those are good for pads. Nothing else though, not any genre that PC excels at :)

I mostly wanted it working for GTA: VC.. lmao... only emu's I use are VBA and MAME.. no need for analog

checking yer links out tho.. and sorta thanks ;)

most FPS's I use mouse/keyboard... but those are usually intense and I'm into em. GTA:VC is more laid back and chilled.. so I didn't wanna be all up in my monitor.

only console I own is a Gamecube... woulden't want that for GTA:VC tho.... don't like where the C stick is on it

and I've seen the last link you posted before.. thought they looked nifty enough for me.. but haven't wanted to shell out more cash for anything recently... in BAD need of a new video card and RAM

GTA:VC with the gamepad wasn't too hot to be honest, the reason why the pc version is a lot better is because you actually have proper controls (especially with the guns). I hate the clunky controls of the PS2/Xbox version.

Its okay once or twice for a really quick go, but its a tad offputting, I can't say I really wanted to play again.

GTA:VC doesn't have native control support, its very, very poorly implemented. JoyToKey is a necessity regardless of direct input compatible pads or not.
