Everytime I start Emule, I get this in my log :-
Code:
29/11/2003 00:51:59: Error: Failed to open part.met file! (039.part.met => ) - A sharing violation occurred while accessing D:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\Temp\039.part.met.
29/11/2003 00:51:59: Error: Failed to open part.met file! (066.part.met => ) - A sharing violation occurred while accessing D:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\Temp\066.part.met.
29/11/2003 00:51:59: Error: Failed to open part.met file! (086.part.met => ) - A sharing violation occurred while accessing D:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\Temp\086.part.met.
29/11/2003 00:52:00: Error: Failed to open part.met file! (143.part.met => ) - A sharing violation occurred while accessing D:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\Temp\143.part.met.

How has this happened, is there anyway I can see what those part files are and can I recover them?

Hey PCA!

Emailing you at the moment :wink:

This has happened to me before, but only when I accidently open the same emule client. It says that becuase the part files are being used by the original emule and the second I load freaks out with that error!

But if you've only got 1 emule running then I don't know?
Did you load a second emule, maybe the Temp directory has been locked off, and a restart might help?

But sharing violation does mean the files are in use already :?

Yeah, I know, but I'm only using one client.
This happens EVERY time I start emule, I can do a reboot and load ONLY emule and that message will appear everytime :(

Sorry mate, I wish I could help you but unfortunately I don't have the slightest idea what might be causing this.

Ohgod to the (possible) rescue:

Corrupt Files

In my 13 months of using emule, edonkey and overnet I have not had a single corrupt file. A couple days ago I was quite surprised to find that 14 of my 114 downloads were no longer recognized by emule.

A sharing violation occurred while accessing C:\Program Files\eMule\Temp\007.part
A sharing violation occurred while accessing C:\Program Files\eMule\Temp\010.part

The problem was that my antivirus program was running when I opened emule. Since my AV program was scanning my .part and config files in the background emule could not write to these files because they were already opened by another application. This was the cause of the "sharing violation" error message. The solution was simple. I disabled my AV program and emule recognized all my .part files. I have only encountered this problem with F-Prot antivirus while Norton does not seem to cause this sharing violation when enabled.

(shamelessly copied and pasted )

A loooong shot , so don't get dissapointed

BTW is there a max number of downloads ( that you could have accidently set ? )

It is rather suspicious that 14 of his 114 files wouldn't run anymore ; maybe the fool finished 14 files while he was messing around ....

also have you tried something as stupididly simple as copying the files , renaming them (ie part 14 into a free number , say 34), and then putting them back in ? Little effort so worth a shot I reckon...
