I am using the current version of nero for burning avi files to disk mainly, but for some damn reason all disks are now coming out and are unreadable by windows, says some shit about might be corrupted. What course of action you guys recommend?

I thought perhaps checking all connections first, then maybe re-install nero. I never changed any of teh settings and it is using all the settings as it always has.

buffer underruns i suspect.

1) Get a better burner
2) Close down some programs
3) make sure nothing else is writing to disc

1 you mean soft or hardware?

2 just the usual running, no probs before, I run a lean, well as lean as an MS machine can be, machine.

3 always do burning without nothing else running anyways.

I was using newest nero, fresh from BT LOL Care to recemmend a new one? My CD burner has not itself been used much since installed, but has always been fine. I had a prob with an older version of nero, but that was cured by an install of a newer version.

Using cheap media (like princo for example)? I found them to be unreliable above x2 (but they have x4 printed on them)

Edit: I thought you were talking about dvd media (tired), but my advice is the same, reduce writing speed and see...

eh, i got a whole box of shit cds before, like 100 bad cds.
try using a disc analysing prog, like arrowkey disc inspector to see if the media is bad. it gives a disc map, so if all the cd's have the same bad areas it is probably manufacturing fault and you can probably return them. if u write to the disc and they are all fucked up they wont give you a refund/exchange if u have to send them back, or they would be a bit suspicious of returned fucked up cds with a bunch of movies.

if its a new version, maybe it is misconfigured. or you need a new driver. i had to update my cdwriter driver to work with older nero.
maybe turn off/uninstall windows native drop and drag writing from explorer.
try writing or setting your temporary drive to a different hardrive. writing a cd from my hardrive when it is 99% full fucks up disc more often, specially when its fragmented to hell.
most of the buffer underuns i get, most of the disc can be burned and read, the last few mb wont come off.
try writing some smaller files, like 6 files of 100mb each, see wich get fucked up.

or try cleaning it. hehe.

I tried writing some smaller files, after a reinstall of nero, and the disks still come out fucked and unreadable. Weird thing is an audio CD was unreadable by windows but worked in my stereo. Guess this could take some experimentation LOL Call me FrankenTak.

i had a simular problem with 2 spindles of sony cd's i just recently bought..they would come out corrupted when i burned them at the full speed they were advertised to burn at...they work fine when i slow the burn down to x16..very weird espically since my burner is sony as well, but it works so give that a try
