Nothing has changed between port 4670 not being reachable and connecting with a high ID, i know this occasionally happens with emule on a restart, but at 07:00 this morning, emule had been running for ~12hours :(

Also, I think it's affecting downloads and connections as both are MUCH lower than usual.

Does anyone have any ideas, or should I just give up on emule.

OK, i'm going to re-install from scratch and see if that cures it, what are the files I need to keep so as not to lose my credits?

If this doesn't fix it though, I'm going to stop using emule, it's too damn flaky and I can't be bothered with the constant high maintenance anymore :(

:wacky: Jeez Pc seems like a normal day to me :wacky:

But you do seem desperate.....so let's put some effort in it ....

I trust you tried standard ports ? Maybe some servers just don't like certain numbers.....
Your firewall ? what mod ? does your isp have a reputation of blocking ports ?
Blah blah all the usual questions..... You checked them all ?
You've been having these symptons for how long now ?

as for wich files to keep , i believe i never got that right (ask sPUD LOL) just copy it all for save keeping somewhere , you could add them later I guess...

Best to try a total clean install....

Yeah, I'm going to do that, I'm fed up with wrestling with emule to get a decent up/download and I've decided that unless I can fix it this time to just ditch it and use ftp/irc/BT etc. as it's alot less hassle as far as I can see.

Can't escape the feeling you're a bit spoilt there Pc......

Most of the time my mule is between 10 - 30 k/s.... ( but then i'm not a 24/7)

Sure if I click enough Popular files I could hit a 100+.....

But single file wise it never will be ftp/bt....

I think i' speak for most when I say we'd hate to loose you too

Yeah, I probably am a bit spoilt when it comes to emule, but when I see people (including me!) getting full speeds from crap like WinMX and Kazaa (without giving anything back!!) it makes me wonder why I bother staying with it.

I download a mixture of popular (pc and xbox games) and less popular (everything from here) files and am used to getting between 50 and 100 kbps (usually ~50-60), now I'm lucky to get 20kbps :( I'm 24/7 and have used emule for ~2 years so my credit should be good, but the results I'm getting are quite frankly unnacceptable now.

I've been at this point before, but emule's a difficult drug to give up ;) (and last time I tried Shareaza which made me realise just how good emule can actually be)

So please, if anyone can tell me what files I need to keep to clean install and keep my credits etc (and those of the people who have kindly uploaded to me) and give me some pointers, i'd be grateful.

I'm currently using emule 0.30e pawcio 4.13

sorry to hear of your troubles but you are a spoilt git :P , i am lucky to hit a constant 35k/s even though i'm on 24/7 and upload constantly at 25k/s....but i'm not bothered aslong as i get the stuff i want there's NO WAY i'll leave emule behind :D
anyway....files to keep
clients.met
cryptkey.dat (otherwise you become Invalid on friends list)
known.met
preferences.dat and .ini?
emfriends.met (so you know who ya friends are  )

hardly clean install but thats the only way you keep credits etc as far as i know, hope that helps you out ya spoilt git

Think you may have a problem there, you were still in my friends list but when I saw you on my queue you didn't have a friend slot, must be a different ID. Friend slot re-established of course :beerchug:
