hi guys, need your help again please. finally getting round to putting some music onto my ipod, i'm not using itunes though. but not liking that they are all at different volumes... ie, some quieter, some louder (i hate trying to explain things, cos i'm crap, lol). is there a program that will let me sort this out??? thank you in advance and hope you are all doing well  :D

Depends on the prog you use I guess. I know you're not using iTunes but that for instance has the option to check the songs and (sort-off) make sure the output level is more or less the same. I'm sure there are other audio programs around that can do the same. Have a look at the options menu

Yup, normalising volume should be attainable:
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

I used that a long time ago for fixing some audio samples that were super quiet and super loud.

Yes, Mp3Gain is also what I was using for these kind of problems.

thank you guys, can always rely on you to help me out. but, i can't use mp3gain, i just can't fathom out how to use it. for instance, i thought i was normalizing the volume, but all it did was speed some songs up. like they'd been sucking helium out of a balloon. but, not one to give up, i shall give it another go... much appreciated :beerchug:

If I remember correctly, you need to open all the files you want to normalize, highlight all of them and then you have to ... well ... normalize them... There is some kind of analysis function (I think) that runs over the files and checks which ones need to be amplified and which ones are too loud. Then you can adjust the result (dB) and start normalizing. Something like this. I hope this was helpful.
