who said emule is better? I switched all my downloads to emule and I am not impressed... Overnet, so far, was way faster, but it did use alot more resources, ram, cpu... emule seems to just sit there and pant :) maybe its due to weekend traffic, maybe I didn't set it up right... I do believe I can read directions.. any shortcuts, advice, help would be highly appreciated. :wacky:

If you're begind a router then max sources per file = 500 (this seems to make a big difference) and max connections try 240.
If not then try (and other may well disagree) : max sources 5000 and max connections 1000, these worked well for me before I put the router in (although emule never used anywhere near that many connections)

My emule is currently flying along with those settings, I'm averaging ~70-80 Kbps.
If you're not already, then use the Pawcio mod, put USS and DSS on and it should start moving :)

get eMule0.40f26-LSD15dRC2-bin

it's the most stable in up and down traffic I've tried till now.

This is interesting. I understand the 'Max upload' part, but how is the 'Min upload' part implemented? Suppose there are not enough requests to serve 11.0 kb/sec. will then random traffic be uploaded to /dev/null?

It doesn't make any difference, it's like a value that emule "strives" to achieve, if it can't it doesn't matter AFAIK

Thanks guys for all the help... It seems it just alot longer for emule to get going... I guess it has to do with all the sources... but I finally finished:
Near Death
Last House On The Left
Kingdom Hospital EP 2
Strange Brew
I Spit On Your Grave

Thanks again....

many isps stuggle to provide constant upload at the specified speed, and the USS adapts to see if they line is being swamped by upload.

The min upload however means, this is the minimum upload to aim for. If it doesn't reach that amount, it tries its damndest by opening more upload slots ;)

edit: sweet bajesus, I enabled this setting and my download slowly raised to about 100kb/s spread :o

Does that mean the setting dramatically increased you download?
It did for me and I can't for the life of me figure out WHY???

Yeah, exactly the same here, took ages fiddling around with the settings to get the download to jump above ~1kbps though.
So Soulripper, keep playing with the settings and eventually one will "click" and you'll find your speeds acceptable.

because most of this forum's users are downloading with the mule and seem to be happy with it, i tried it out yesterday, for the first time. i thought that it's the better way to release rips. but i have about the same problems as soulripper. the mule just won't start going.

when i start overnet i wait some 10 to 20 secs and it starts downloading with rates from 50kb/s to 200 kb/s (my connection is cable 2000/300).

are there maybe big differences in the servers? is there a server you preferably download from? or does someone have a better serverlist than the one spud posted in the FAQ-forum?

well, i hope it won't take too long or i'll go back to my beloved overnet. :?

Emule takes HOURS to get up to speed, not seconds.
But your patience will be rewarded with more sources and rare files etc.
