I would like to copy a segment from a avi I have and email it to a mate overseas. I was trying to use Vdub to copy the selected time frame into a new avi using direct stream copy....

This all worked fine, but the file was to big for his inbox. I looked but could not find a way to reduce the rez of the file, (eg: Convert 720x576 to 320x156)

Anyone have a procedure to do this?

Tried opening up an FTP for sharing one file. Give him access to it so he can download it from your connection.

on windows xp the program movie maker is already installed and very easy to use. i wouldn't use it for whole movies, but with it you can choose the filesize of the movie file and then email it. try it that way. :)

you go video>filters>add>resize.

You'll need a calculator and scale down the res whilst maintaining the AR to the nearest you can get it, then crop the rest.

Audio>direct stream copy, and needless to say, your going to be re-encoding the video stream.

@Iconoclast: Sry, didn't under stand the fourms properly...

@spudthedestroyer: that works 100%!!

If I can add another question... is it possible to resync audio if you have downloaded a file and the audio is out of sync....

Basicaly I have a DVDrip from the net. Now I assume the original file is synced..... anyway when I load it up in vDUB I get this error.

Image

If I then simply resave it with both video and audio direct sync problems the sound gose out of wak.

I need to do this as I use an Xbox to watch most of my movies at the moment. XboxMediaCenter is really goood, with a 220GB hdrive and network streaming over the wirless to all the files on my PC it is a v.cool small portable video player. But this file will not play on it untill i do the resave thing...

Any ideas?

Jynks, never use vanilla virtual dub, it can only support WAV or CBR mp3. You should always use Virtual Dub mod.
