Anyone got this and played it successfully?
It always crashes for me ...
I'm using codecs from Nimo Codec Pack 5.0 Build9 Beta1.

It's supposed to be DivX 5.0 but I can't get it to play...
Any tips on what codecs to install (and what not to)

Have you tried <a href="http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53761" target=blank>ffdshow</a> latest build?

or <a href="http://www.headbands.com/gspot/" target=blank>gspot</a> to tell you exactly what on you're system can play the file and if there are problems with it?

It could be a codec error that can come from toom any installs.

Put the video file into gspot and it will detect what codec was used to encode it and inform you of you're systems capability of playing it.

Then go from there. Post back if you need to.

YEP!

The GordianKnot codec pack is a better approach, and nemo is not really the best way to go about a codec install.

The pro's download and install ffdshow/ac3 filter and then can play almost everything, then (and only then) once you encounter a avi that won't play find out what codec is needed (gspot or similar) and install them as they are needed.

Nimo just bungs em all in regardless and they get out of date within a week or two.

So avoid nimo and go with ffdshow and work from there.

I think thats the best approach.

I've just done a re-install and only got ffdshow and not had a problem playing files

ffdshow did it!
nimo has ffdshow too but I don't know how old it is ...
I am using Gspot, of course, and to this day I've just re-installed nimo with the codecs I need for each movie. had no problems until now.

thanks for the help

It's unanamous that nimo is naff, but unfortunatly has a reputaion for first time codec users and is still around at the mo coz used by these people!
