Hey guys, I know a few of you use the Xbox as a massive media centre for your PC2TV. Pretty much all I use it for. Anyway I didn't replace the DVD drive like a few of my mates who modded theirs. If you replace the drive all the media restrictions are gone...

Anyway. I can download games and burn them fine to dvd-r and they play 100%, though if I do a data burn of a dvd-r full of avis the dvd-r will not be recognised by the Xbox.

Anyone have any ideas how to do this? I was thinking that maybe I need to use one of those ISO creation application.... ... ..

You shouldn't have to, although the xbox natively doesn't recognise ISO9660 disks (which the PC defaults to), try burning as UDF and see if that works. The other thing is what player are you using (and just as importantly which build / version), xbox media PLAYER needs you to choose iso9660 disks to read them, Xbox media CENTER can read either from the "DVD rom" option.

If you're using DVD2Xbox, Boxplorer, UnleashX to copy the contents across though the XBOX WILL NOT recognise them unless they are burnt as UDF.

Hope that helps.

I am not using any of that stuff, I am simply burning Avi files and subtitles files from my hardrive onto DVD-R.

I do not do a lot of burning.. is UDF a option somwere in NERO?

What are you using (program and version) to play the files on the xbox?

Try a newer version of xbmc, one of the older version had a bug where it wouldn't read iso9660 DVDs

That's weird, But your xbox read the same media when burnt as a game?
The only thing I can think of is to try burning slower, if you can try 2x.

Right, Sorry to interject but :

I have the exact same problem :(

Will read anything as an xbox game disc, but xbmp/xbmc won't read data dvdr's with avi's on.
Always thought that was wierd.

But I just thought what if you created an xbox ISO image using the usual tools and then burnt like a game disc?
Would that work work?

But I'm talking quite a while ago.
When I get back home I'll try mine with the latest media player and see if it will read discs!

That is wat I was thinking of trying... did you get any luck using one of those Xbox ISO creation apps to compile the avis for you?

HEY I GOT IT WORKING!!!!

A mate of mine with the same problem put me onto a program called "Stomp Record Now MAX".

Well just install it, close the wizard.. hit data, hit the add data button, select your files and then hit the burn button...

That is it..

Happy Xbox AVI backup/Watching
