yeah, most do BUT NOT ALL! Also I don't think any of them can write CDRW.
I think it might not be smart to buy a new dvd-r now though, with the dual layered ones supposedly being released in May.

I was considering waiting a while anyways, I have been stung b4 paying premium for something and then crying when the price gets halved in a few months.

yeah, sure. but the rumours say that the new ones wont be that expensive anyways!
Nowadays you can get a dvdr here for about 700nok (devide by 10 to get aprox ?)
The new dual layered ones are supposedly gonna go for double of that. Still not a wallet breaker.

there's a burner out in the us that has the dual layer firmware lined up for when the media drops in price, that costs about $120 (dual media, 8x dvd, 24x cd-r, 20x DVD read. ATM its $5 a dual layer disc, by xmas there'll be a flood of dual layer burners at around ?100
