I have just received my new computer, and thought I finally could release movies myself. I have a couple of good horror movies I want to release. My problem is that I can't get my VHS connected to the computer. I have connected them by a scart-cable, and my TV/Video card is nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 (Asus AGP-V9570) Can anyone help me with a detailed walkthrough, or a link? :(

This looked great for the ripping part. :beerchug:

My problem is that I can only get snow on my screen when I try to watch the movie. I computer can't find the Vhs video at all. What am I doing wrong? Anyone? I have a scart cable connected between the VHS and my computer. Do I need any more cables, or is it any other thing you can think of? :(

Might be a stupid question, but your video card does have video IN doesn't it?

EDIT : It doesn't appear to have. :(

EDIT : Only DV (Digital Video) IN

The question is not stupid, but maybe I am just that. :D

Can you see if it has that through these info:

Display:
Video Adapter GeForce FX 5700 (256 MB)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 (256 MB)
3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700
Graphics Processor Properties:
DirectX 4.09.00.0901 (DirectX 9.0a)
Video Adapter nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 (Asus AGP-V9570)

Device Properties:
Driver Description ASUS WDM TV Tuner
Driver Date 27.08.2002
Driver Version 2.3.0.2
Driver Provider ASUSTeK
INF File oem69.inf
Hardware ID Stream\TunerFQ#PCI#VEN_1131&DEV_7134&SUBSYS_48401043&REV_01

I have on my card:
1 slot for the tv-antenna
1 slot for S-video
1 slot for scart-cable. Should'nt it then have Video IN?

I would've thought you could get a signal in somehow. Maybe one of our resident TV capping experts will have more of an idea? :(

I just spoke to customer service from the company I bought the computer, and he told me that the producers often disagrees on which pins to use in the scart cable. He told me to try connecting them together with a seperat audio (red and white) and picture cable (yellow).
I have to try this when I get home. Thank's for helping DJBenz.. :D

Fuck this piece of shi.....

I just received my VHS to CD converter, and do you think it works??? Hell no...

If I use a scart cable behind the vhs, nothing works. If I only stick in the audiocables behind this without the scart, the sound works perfectly. I don't however have the possibility to put in the videocable without using the scart. Any tips???
My converter is: Adaptec 1100 - VHS to CD Converter +s/w USB 1.1, Retail KIT

I take it your using euro AV (aka Scart to composite?). Do you have it setup for a pal signal?

Have a scan through the manual and see if you got it setup correctly would be the only thing I can recommend. Once you've ensured it up, and u've got your scart to composite setup in an output scart plug round the back (and of course have your scart wires switch set to out) and you still don't get any picture, the best thing you can do is consult the makers "support" section on their webpage.

With my card, I can't use every program to capture, must be compatible with my card. So when you test use the software that came with it.
