I just had a question about piece sizes for movies. What size does the donkey network break em into? Can you chose what size the pieces are broken into like with bt or is it a set standard? There's a certain piece size i always use for a torrent that helps get the best efficiency out of it and when i try any other size i end up having to upload more.

9.29 mb is the size of the segments, I believe. And no, you can't change it.

I was just wondering why the donkey network doesn't make their chunks smaller like with bt? I know that would mess up all the old hashes and stuff but there's got to be some way they can integrate it. 9.29mb is way too big i've noticed since i've been using emule. I think it would greatly improve speeds to. When i make a torrent i always break the pieces into 128kb chunks(most efficient piece size for bt IMO, anything smaller or larger ends up being less efficient) which works out to around 5000+ pieces for a 700mb file. But if you got to upload 9.29mb per chunk it takes forever to get the pieces spread. What your guys take on this being emule veterans?

that's just it. BT is great for getting something fast, but it usually don't stay around very long. The great thing about emule is that you can get a file even if it was 3 years since someone originally posted it at some forum. Part of the reason for that is that it takes a little while to get a file. If it takes 1 week to complete a file, and there'll always be 3-4 new people trying to get that file every week, then it'll stay shared forever.

On BT, 100 people might get the file in only a matter of hours, but if you only find out about it 4 months later, you're usually out of luck. You can of course request a reshare, but it isn't always that successfull.

When I rip & release a film, I post it at a bunch of forums, and after it has been thoroughly spread (somewhere between 1 or 2 weeks) I know that that file will be availible for years. Checking files that I released 1 & 1/2 year ago, proves this to be true.

But don't you still think 9.29mb is a little big? What about say 1mb or 2mb wouldn't that be more reasonable? I just think if you can spread the file faster it wouldn't need to stay alive for months. Like when i uploaded Cheerleader Autopsy back on July 6 i've already got over 5000 downloads of it in just a few weeks where as with emule it would take months if not years to do that. So that's what i don't get. If it takes that much longer to spread the file to the equal amount of people as on bt how is that a benefit? Sure it may be alive for years but your only spreading it to the same amount just in a way longer time.

By the way what other places do you post yours at? The only others i know about our fileheaven and Share the Files.

<a href="http://forums.shareconnector.com" target=blank>Shareconnector</a> and <a href="http://forum.pleasuredome101.com/" target=blank>pleasuredome101</a>

Pleasuredome even have a <a href="http://forum.pleasuredome101.com/index.php?showforum=59" target=blank>horrordome!</a>

And Undead King you really need to put your emule hat on when using the application.
Sure 1/2MB chunks would be better, but thats why BT is so popular and both BT and emule have their pluses and minuses.
You just have to accept that you can get a file on BT ASAP and on emule theres no rush and you can queue as many as you want knowing you'll get them....eventually!

If I queue any of my OLD releases and even past STR ones they are still being downloaded today by new people coming to the network and such and it's great to think that the very first ed2k release I did (Sleepaway Camp Trilogy + Extras) are still being downloaded today!

I love getting stuff faster on BT and I'm sure everyone does, but I still prefer being able to handle/watch my releases and queues and friend slot/change priority/community boost and do all the other tweaks that make emule so fun

Plus I think the clear evidence that HHAH/emule does not suffer from the leech and run mentality of users is perhaps the biggest bonus of them all!

But I'm glad you're making the effort and using the old donkey we all love :beerchug:

Yeah i agree they both have pluses and minusus. I still think the biggest problem with bt is trackers. I've been through tons since i uploaded my first torrent last summer. They need to figure out another way to have like an emule style program where the torrents are kept alive between each other and not through a tracker then maybe we might see some longevity.

Sorry if i came off sounding rude as that was not my intention. I'm just trying to figure this whole emule thing out. Overall i think it's great. Especially seeing all the HHAH in the nicks and being able to like you said give a friend slot instead of only seeing ip addresses. If my upload speed was upgraded i would definitely release a lot more here. So right now i'm glad there's a bt links section here. Gives me a chance to give back to you guys even though it's not your preferred method. Plus i've been looking for another horror place since i don't care for the those other 2 horror bt sites.

So this brings me to another question. Whose all a member of Str. I also know that DJ Benz is because i remember when i posted your guys rip of Flesh Freaks back on Cm's he posted saying he appreciated the Str tag not being removed from the file. Also got a shitload of downloaders for that one. Cheers for another great zombie release also :beerchug:

So thanks for all the help with this guys. It's appreciated :D.

STR in their various roles comprises of :
<a href="http://forum.dead-donkey.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=392" target=blank>Decypher</a>
<a href="http://forum.dead-donkey.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=179" target=blank>DJBenz</a>

<a href="http://forum.dead-donkey.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=40" target=blank>TaKYoNtheKoRRuPTeD</a>

Ask all the questions you want mate

I did when I first went over to BT, it's just a learning curve!

Ooops. I didn't know Decypher was a member of Str. I had uploaded your rip of Return of the Living Dead 2 a couple days before he had on bt. I didn't know you had a bt provider already. Damn it. Would have loved to have been one. Sorry about that one Decypher
