Is this for .sub only?
Will it play .srt with the upgraded firmware?
Cuz out of about 500 movies I have, about 20 of em need Subs, and most of the subs for those are .srt's.
I just assumed it wouldn't play seperate sub files and took the loss. Still the best DIVX-player around for the money, IMO.

It plays everytihing!
even smi.=P
Make sure to keep the filename simple though.
Don't use anything but text or "."'s .
Doesn't like *()><?/\][{}{|" characters.

OK..Well, here's the deal.
All I do is download movies and burn them to CD-R with Nero. I just burn them as Data Discs. So...like...Raise the Red Lantern.
On the disc it will have the .avi, and the .srt.
And then when I insert the disc the Philips menu pops up, and the 2 files are shown, and I can press play on the .avi, and the movie will play.
Without the subs.
So in that sort of scenario, would upgrading the firmware make the player play the .avi with the subs? Or do I need to reburn stuff in a different form?
I'm not hot on needing to upgrade the firmware. It seems...I don't know. A little risky, and I have no need for Region-Free.

When you see both files, you need to select the subtitle file, and then press the SUBTITLE button on the remote.
It will confirm. then just select the avi file and press play!

OK, well, I'll try it without the Upgrade and see what happens. May work.
And if not I'll upgrade.
I am greatly indebted to you. If we ever came back as Zombies, I would crack open some poor souls head and let YOU feast on the tasty goo inside, my friend. That's the kind of guy I am.

I bought it like a week ago.
And it was from a new shipment to Wal-Mart.com, because 3 days before I bought it, I checked Wal-Mart.com for them, and then they didn't have any.
So when I had the money 3 days later I went to Ebay.com to find that they were going for $90+shipping, so I went back to Wal-Mart.com, found that they had 'em, and paid $85 including shipping.
Which is actually a long and useless story, but whatever.
You may heckle me at will.
