right, am tryin 2 do a 2cd rip of a 2hour movie but to avoid teh split happening at a crucial part of a scene the 1st CD comes out at 706MB. is that classed as oversized/do ppl have probs fitting that much on a cd? should i rerip again at a lower rate? if i do it may make the 2nd cd horribly undersized?

thanks

dunno, is why i ask :D i regularly burn more than that when puttin subs on a cd as well but jus wanna kno wot otha ppl think.
have had so many little niggles with this n dont wanna do again if poss

at the moment i got cd1 at 706MB and cd2 at 673MB. 1st time round was 730MB for disk1!! jus dont want the split 1 minute or so b4 the end of a scene which is where the default happens ! :( so had 2 redo a coupla times already trying 2 get right size :(

for what it's worth I have never been able to burn more than 703 even with overburn. I have tried large discs 99min and thats ok except my stand alone player only supports 700mb :(
so I burn them onto a dvd disc as they are and they play fine :D
I agree that the break shouldn't come at a critical moment
As a ordiary user without a great deal of tech knowledge it wouldn't bother me about the size of the discs good quality rips is what I go for :D

p.s I'm dying to know what it is

I wouldn't worry about "splitting a scene" TOO much, for those with a CD writer only 700Mb is better and for those with a DVD writer they can join them before burning (although re-sharing would be a problem in that case)

personally i'd stick with the 700mb break and not worry about the scene cut,i'm also doing a 2 cd rip atm and have kinda cut the middle of a scene up but not badly and i doubt it'd make viewing the movie any worse for that break in momentum...but thats me :)

I agree the the guys above, scene cuts are really an issue, it would take one major newb to post a complaint about a scene cut, and I've enever seen one ever posted around any forums I visit

However they like to moan about oversizing so would stick to 700MB mark, but I don't care as it all goes on DVDR now for me!

it seems since i updated my os to XPsp2 iam having all sorts of probs now tho :( amongst my probs i cant seem to use xvid to encode at all  tho i have no probs playin them :? 6channel ac3 comes out very very quiet.
