I am a total newbie to burning dvds and i need some serious help. I started to use Autogk and finished the steps of decrypting the video and then taking it through autogk. What do i do next...I have
Avisynth 2.5, Vobsub and xvid. I was told that autogk, and the programs it downloaded with it, would take me through the entire process but it didn't......I have read tons of pages but simply do not get it...could someone easily explain the steps to me. Thanx

Please, make sure that the title of your topic reflects its content. "I need help" etc is not a good title for a post in the FAQ/Help question, every single thread posted here is a request for help of some kind.

What exactly is the outcome? Once you have the files on your hdd, you simply run AutoGK, and that's it. The result is *always* a rip, even if you did something wrong.

Try using this guide:
http://www.doom9.org/autogk.htm

For better results, try using the regular Gordian Knot.

Autogk is a front end for all the other software that came with it. Never used it myself, as Polityk says I'd recommend using the regular Gknot.

GK is not a standalone ripping program, it uses all the tools that come with it to create the final outcome. You could as well use those tools without GK, but then you'd have to use them manually.

I can see you're not an expert user (at least not yet), so you probably won't like the regular GK, but I can assure you, it's easier than it looks. Just follow the appropriate guideline on doom9 or the one that you can find here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive ... ot_ac3.cfm.

AutoGK would be ok, but sometimes it makes really autrageous errors. In the past, I used it several times for extras when I had little time, because this way I didn't have to configure everything manually. However, I stopped using it when I noticed 2 extras for one of my old rips were not deinterlaced properly. They had been done using AutoGK, just because I hadn't had have time to go through all steps of the regular GK. I hadn't checked it carefully enough, assuming AutoGK was able to do it properly, so they had been released with bad deinterlacing. :matrix:

To burn files on a blank medium you need an application... well, an application to burn files on a blank medium. Like Nero Burning Rom.

You can use the same applications for burning all kinds of files, they are all the same, regardless of the source. WinDVD Creator is not an application for burning blank media. You may try to minimize the number of applications etc, but if you want to be able to sue your computer you have to make the sacrifice and install some of them.
