I was advised to use VBR for audio in rips a while back and could never get a decent bitrate in BeSweet so I started using ABR which always gave a bitrate about what I wanted. However

If your re-encoding the audio, and assuming its MP3, you have two options, VBR and CBR (okay three options, ABR, but IMO, no point).

So could anyone give me any tips on obtaining a decent ~128k/s ABR in BeSweet?

If you set 128kb/s VBR and it ends up lower, have you considered that the bitrate isn't needed? If you want to do overkill you might as well use CBR.

When I set 128kb/s VBR, gspot normally reports 127 or sometimes lower, but if you watch it in winamp it fluctuates massively depending on the audio.

No, I was getting too much, ~140. It's a while since I tried though and I was having all sorts of probs with BeSweet at the time, so much so I gave up on it and used CoolEdit for a while. I'll give it another go.

Tried again, it was ballpark this time (133k/s), btw I use 96k/s as the min and 160 as the max, what do others use?
