Gonna have my first go at converting and burning a film onto DVD, just a quick question tho, what type of disk? + or -, does it make a real difference?

Only if you have an old standalone that doesn't support one of those formats.

LOL I remember reading something a whil back about that, but the ppl that are likely to have any copies I make all have newer, under 2 years old, players.
So my question still stands, which would be the format to try to avoid problems? Also, I know how to burn data no problems, but what about converting those AVI/MPEG/Disk images and burning, would Nero be cool for this or is it a shitter?
PLease bear in mind this will only be used once or twice a week, so super techy and ultra high quality are not requirements, as long as the fuckers play.

Hhhm, it looks like, on initial inspection at least, that - are cheaper and more common.

I always use - disks, cheaper and in my experience more compatible.
Nerovision express is fine for re-encoding .avi / mpg to dvd, it's quick and easy too.

But wouldn't that split the film into 2 chapters if it was a 2 disk SVCD?
Prelim tests are looking good, it's gonna take around 1hr 20mins to do it's business on a film, spose I can live with that

So?
There is NO point transcoding an SVCD to DVD, you will LOSE quality.

Balls, the audio is out of sync, it is fine for about the first 20 mins then after that it is about a second out.

Hhhm, is there a difference between PAL and PAL uk?
Only just noticed the uk entry, missed it first time as I saw PAL and left it.
Framerate is 23.976

PAL and PAL uk?
God knows, BUT Nero isn't good at swapping PAL to NTSC or vice versa, so if the source is 25 select PAL otherwise select NTSC.

OK mate, noted. Would selecting NTSC affect playback in standalones?
