Is everyone running ATM, Pawcio 4.14 seems to have nose-dived speedwise over the last couple of days.

Which is the best mod ATM for downloading?

I use Neomule atm too. It utilises my upload great, and downloads at high speed too, so I can't complain.

Yes it has been barred by proxy.

LSD was banned because he altered the code that specifically comments "DO NOT CHANGE", and thusly, I believe it maybe a violation of the emule license.. I'm not sure if it was that formal, or if it was just a violation of what the developers asked of modders. Either way, it was a bad play. At one point LSD mod also had no ratio I believe.

However, the last versions of lsd had some features, such as manually reask for sources, community features, etc. That aren't 'allowed' (as in the developers of the main app have

The problem with neomule is that its 'based' on LSD, in so far that it has many of the features of LSD. It does not however, have any of the "DO NOT CHANGE" code modified in anyway.

To that end, Neomule is about as much a leech mod as MorphXT which also has the 'frowned upon' features. The only difference is that Neomod has a reask server, which is classed as piggy backing/stealing overhead bandwidth from the network by getting a source boost for asking for sources too much. TBH, I doubt anyone uses these two much, if at all, but that is way its sometimes called a 'leech'. It is almost certainly not a leechmod though, and the only bad performance it has as far as I could see is if you repeatedly reask for new sources. All clients ask for new sources on a regular basis, pressing the button does it manually in neomule. This however, will get you banned from every client and server almost instantly so there would be little point in anyone doing it.

However, that is why its labbeled a 'leech'. I don't think its ever been posted on emule-project, and it doesn't have any of the ratios or download gubbins modified, so it is not a leech mod. I don't think its banned either, its just not been posted because of its 'closeness' to LSD which is banned.

In the scale of things, and from what I've checked, Neomule doesn't effect the network in any adverse effects more than any other emule client. The things it does have that make it 'edgy' is reask and community, the latter is part of a heck of a lot of mods anyway.

I'm not a network analyst, but I doubt neomule has that much negative effect on the network, or at least not when comparing it to emule, which itself was called the same 'leech' by the edonkey2000 community when it launched.

I would say, if your a neomule user, don't use the reask 'feature', it will have negative effects ultimately, using it too often = client ban on anyone your asking for sources.

Will do skip, currently re-hashing all my downloads :?

But from the look of it it rocks and has everything you need at easy reach.

But after 90+k downloads on PAWCIO it's gonna be hard to sacrifice that for a better mule with slower downloads!!!

well, my downspeed never drops below 100ksec. Usually it's steady around 130. (max capacity is 250).
I'm very happy with that...

paul-scream22, I have only max connections 800, max sources 250. Maybe I could try to set them a little higher...?

Here i am a Emule user for a long time and i come across this thread on my new favorite Emule site. I go and get the NeoMule....

HOLY BEJEESUS! My speeds jumped by over 40K on every single file. Only thing is this piece of software has way to many features for me. I have absolutley no idea what this new stuff does, and i like to meddle :outsider: I know i am going to go exploring with this and i am going to mess something up.

Is there a place where i can go and get some Info. on all these new features?

I feel like i am playing with firecrackers here.... I hate being curious :wacky:

OK neomule was left running over night.

I set max sources to 1000
I set max connections to 5000

Like I do for any eMule mod I use

And after the long re hash of files neomule was off.
It immedietley began downloading files (which was good) but at a slow rate!

But of course these things take time, and after a bit my downloads stayed at a minimum 40K constant and soon after jumped to the PAWCIO style speeds that I love!

Feature wise, YES, theres tonnes. But all the ones I like in mods that have always given my bad download speeds, and now from the looks of it Neomule has BOTH!!!

I'd recommend it PC_Arcade, I woke up his morning and my stats was a pretty much a flat line accross never dropping below 90k

But again give it time to get off and running

Funilly enough I trhink it may have been a glitch, my speeds are ~90-130 as per usual, I'll wait and see what happens, but neomule looks like the way to go.

Thanks Guys :)

I did notice a drop in downloads too, but I have a strong suspision it's becuase of a certain DxaKrator

As most of his films I'v got queued so sources aren't as high as say the latest screener / SC file

But definetly give NeoMule a try PCA, if you can deal with re-hashing etc etc.

For me it's like having the features/ease of use of MorphXT and the speed of PAWCIO.

Will stick with it and see how it lasts in the long term!

mmm, that does sound appealing, I downloaded it last night, just waiting to Pawcio speeds to drop again so I can justify switching ;)
