you could uninstall your 1.60 and then cleanly reinstall the latest autogk version 1.93. see if that helps...

I will try that but i have to say i'm getting to the end of my tether with it all :matrix:
have spent best part of 6-8 hrs struggling with GK. I followed every step of the guide (printed em out to make it easy) and what happens I configure r4r to the letter and what does it do it makes a .dv2 file that GK doesn't reconize
so i go back and change one of the setting that says you need the DGIndex.exe instead of the DVD2AVI.exe this time i get a file that GK will open hooray :D :D
trouble is it's a 16.9 letterbox print and after autocrop i got a big black line along the bottom :matrix: :matrix: :matrix:
so i choose the pixels option and get rid of it :D can i get any sort of decent figures in the box ? can i f**k try the compression test Boll**ks
i try everything i can on the resolution page even leaving the borders there and making it 2 disc :wacky:
still the same message from GK "video compression error 100"
:matrix: :matrix: :matrix:
by the way this isn't the above movie i gave up on that one as the DVD itself was fu***d
I've tried using GK without r4r and after 4half hrs i get error message that i cant remember as my head hit the desk :matrix: :matrix:
so as a last resort i try this one with AGK as the DVD was ripped fine with DVDDecrypter etc and what do you know

gonna update AGK but if that dont work i might give it up. It;s ok for u guys you know what to do when the error message comes up me i just sit ther thinking :matrix: :matrix: :outsider:

Amuse me.

Do a search for that .log on your system - Autogk may just make the log in the wrong directory

Which means your codec isn't installed correctly (or at all).

You need a valid, xvid installation. Not a direct filter, but a codec. See the sticky topic and get keopi's latest build.

You should uninstall xvid if its already there.

That error has nothing to do with gknot, its virtualdub that can't encode because of a faulty installation.

out of interest, you did install the gknot codec pack then gknot?

I do have have keopi's latest and no i installed GK first but only installed the codecs i needed from the pack . In hindsight i think the first dvd was knackered as in dvddecrypter took a couple of goes to read it and only managed to pick up the main movie ( the extras on the disc couldn't be read ) the second dvd was letterboxed and when i sat down to watch it on the dvd player not pc it had a green line going thru the bottom of it :o
Finally i tried the 3rd (u get 3 4 a fiver for a week) and lo behold everything seem to be ok in GK no error message when i start the encoding and then f***k me if the leccy went out 14% into second pass
:suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide: :suicide:
I will try again :-o :-o :-o when i have calmed down
i do quite often read on rippers info how some movies are a bitch to rip

BTW no sign of that log file anywhere

Ok think i may have sussed my prob with GK  , I could never understand why the 1st and 2nd pass setting in the doom9 guide didnt look the same as in my GK i could only access them from the config page so i unistalled everything and got latest GK . reinstalled GK and xvid and bingo it works like the doom 9 guide :D
so gonna give it all another go when my night time pc curfew come to an end :(

tho i still dont know whats wrong with AGK

a couple of q about GK
in the doom9 first time setup guide for xvid the number of "Max consecutive BVOPs: 2"
in mine i have 4294967295
and do you leave the "follow ITU-R BT.601 standard checked or unchecked the doom 9 guide says uncheck /

I would say leve that Checked it works for me.

I'm just starting using GK and i've also read those guids.

You could try this guide:

ed2k: GKnot_ILLUSTRATED_GUIDE_(DVDtoAVI)_by_dap&js.zip  [2.56 Mb] [Stats]
