Yellow light means your firewalled and you don't have the proper ports forwarded in your firewall/router. You will get piss poor downloads because your not connected to everybody you should be. Check your settings in your client and match them up in your firewall/router.

Did you just change something recently in your configuration to be getting such slow speeds?

not always, sometimes its yellow when there's no one to connect to and your connection is fine.

Azerues is gay that way.

nope, its yellow, i should know so cos the gaylord is doing it now on me. As soon as it connects to a seed it changes to the right colour.

Check the homepage or the colour guide, it says the same thing ;) It doesn't change to the right colour straight away because its frelled... but it sorts itself out when you leave it alone.

Its nowt new to az though, doesn't mean its not working fine either.

means that the tracker is ok, you're connected to peers, but you don't have any remote connection.
You may have a NAT problem if your torrents stay on yellow status all the time.

I have one that won't changed past yellow, but i'm downloading at 120kb/s, connected to 8 out of 4 seeds, and 14 out of 9 leeches. I have all the ports open and the torrent is connected to the tracker with status ok.

Yeah, az stats mean so much  Once again, yellow doesn't mean that much in reality, it could be a NAT problem but just because its yellow it doesn't mean it is.

I'm not firewalled and one of my torrents is yellow, one is green and one is red (cos the trackers fucked).

Must be just an Azureus thing because i'm never come across that. I know what the color codes are lol. It should be red if your not connected to anybody and the tracker is fine and your connection is fine. Yellow when you are connected to a few but not all of them(ie firewalled is usually the main cause which looks to be the most likely thing in his case IMHO because of the speed he's getting. No not always but it sure sounds that way). Green means your connected to somebody who has a full copy of the file. Blue means your connected fine but don't see anybody with a complete copy yet(ie when i Superseed a file it will always show blue for everybody in the swarm until somebody else completes) Black means tracker is fucked not red

But yes the status lights aren't always consistent. But in his case i think it's right on the money. I never see a yellow status light on anything i download 8)

I guess the main question should be. WTF are you using AZ for :o

No its not just azereus with the innaccurate reporting, bitcomet used to do it with some torrents, and torrentflux which is based upon torrentstorm i think; its based on remote connections that you have no control over so your likely to not get an accurate view of the situation. I know what the colour codes alledgedly mean, but they aren't accurate or consistant at all so you shouldn't read too much into unless your dealing with a total newbie who probably hasn't set up the firewall correctly.

Yellows main cause is firewalling true, but not always and not all of a sudden i've found. When mine goes yellow its normally somethings fucked up with the tracker, and you really should know, trackers are really shit and the main problem with bittorrent. When it goes yellow all of a sudden* as stated in this case it doesn't mean there's something wrong with your NAT, might be blocking remotely and you can't control that.

If it happens all of a sudden for no reason without any changes, I doubt its a firewall issue, maybe a tracker issue (btw, you never mentioned which torrent?). It might be remote port blocking, or it could just be a fucked up tracker that's using some messed up settings. If your on a static ip or haven't refreshed your ip in a while, try that... i've sometimes had people blocking my ip. I had a lot of problems connecting to polityk on emule, turns out some polish isp was operating an ip block, nothing wrong with the firewalls.

I'll repeat the message I wanted to make about the colour codes and reading too much into them, just because its yellow doesn't mean its a firewall problem (although it often is), and probably isn't if its just the one torrent that's doing it. I've had torrents that have stayed yellow and i've got a clear route so there's no real reason for it. Some of them are just messed up. I'm an emule user so slow speeds don't really bother me though

I'm assuming once again that you've got your ports open and if you haven't there's guides for setting up bt. I've noticed sometimes that single port clients sometimes show up as yellow (ie. software that only uses a single port to connect out, like azereus, bitcomet, etc.)

Offtopic: I use az because az is probably one of the best client by miles, you might have wondered why its one of the most popular clients ;) Sure no superseed criticism; whoopie doo, don't need it and it downloads a lot faster with connection to a distrubuted tracker free network now that's been implemented :) That means even if you do have some f*cked up issues like the one in this thread, you don't get any problems connecting because you don't need the tracker to download :)

* I'm assuming that by pretty experience torrent user he means he's not new and its just this single torrent that's fucked up. I have to say i agree some torrents are just fucked up and go really slowly. Then again i have no problems with zearc, i have with some registered trackers in the past for no reason (and no, it wasn't because they were operating on an odd port).

damn it why do i always post loads of crap to say something simple like:

"if its just the one torrent doing it as said, and its a firewall issue, I'll be surprised."

I just posted that they mean jack shit a lot of the time, then you post em again.

Well that's where i differ from ya completely. I don't think the colour codes mean jack shit a lot of the time. I've found them to be very consistent with my experience. If you think they mean shit that's your problem. So because you say they mean shit i can't say nothing about them. Give me a break.

AZ the best client by miles LMAO!! That's why some trackers have been banning it. Zaerc says that's the most problematic client for hammering his tracker. By the way AZ does have Superseed. But you knew that already

I still think he's got a firewall problem because of the speed he is getting. If i'm wrong who gives a fuck! But in all honesty experienced users do run into troubles like that also.

But don't worry it will be the last time i help anybody out.
