Do I have to install both programs to get movies?, or can one of them do both networks or servers?.
I have installed Emule, it goes slowly, I got some ilow message cos I am behind a router and my internal ip is a 10.0.0 address. I dont complain, it is okay, goes slow in spite of having a 2mbit line, but noone knows if people in the other end have slow lines.
My question is whether i need both programs, emule and edonkey. I do already have azeurious for torrents.
Advice
thanks

You only need one (preferably emule) BUT you will need to forward the emule ports on your router to point to the correct machine

Yeah I read some about that ports stuff. I cant figure it out. I have as I said before a cisco router and then I have a hub my internal ip is 10.0.0.3 and I do not know how to make it so that it goes faster....
I wish I could get a movie 700 mb in the course of some hours instead of days. But I think now I have downloaded maybe two or three in the course of two days.
Well, thanks for your time dude

Just check out their guides and you'll have your ports fowarded in no time. :)

Don't expect movies in a matter of hours with eMule. Even when you're running properly you still won't get full 2Mbit downstream speeds. Queue up a load of files and you'll get the best from your connection and the network.

yes, edonkey2000 is by far in the minority on the network. It is a very flawed and unfeature friendly software.

They both do the same basic job, emule excels at source finding and user friendliness.

Its only possible to get Chinese/Korean movies in a matter of hours, or in a rare circumstance where you stalk a swede or have some one who's powersharing and you get high in their queue.

You are likely to be waiting days, weeks or months. I have a movie that has now been downloading for over a year.

I am using Emule, I feel very lucky cos in a couple of days I had already two movies. Nice just to go to work, or visit the girlfriend and when you get back home, you have some movies already waiting to be watched.
In case this sites is shut down for any reason, is there any other alternative?, do we have some bigboobed sister site anywhere? It would be a pity to sit and wait for this one to come up and run again...

Hey Hederstroyer, where can I dump stuff?, and I aint meaning shit. Any site I can start uploading my goodies?

Of all the eMule sites, this one is on of the strongest and has managed to survive while others were going to the wall. In the very, very unlikely event it ever went offline permanently, there's enough of a community here that something would continue.

If you want to share/upload stuff you need to put it in your emule shared directory. Then, with emule running, look at your shared files, find the one you want to tell people about and right click on it and pick "Copy emule link to clipboard". Then make a post on here and paste the link. Remember to read the guidlines for the section you're posting in though!

yeah zod, im a seasoned torrent user and i felt the same way at first about emule as well that it is incredibly slow.

but, something i discovered (with spuds help) is that if you get 50-100 D/L's happening simultaniously, within a day or two you will average about 2-5 movies a day or so if you manage your files right.

hope that helps

Yeah thanks to both of you.
"To manage my files", hmmm do not understand what you mean here. I thought it was a question of ports. But anyway, I guess I will get to learn this eventually. And anyway there are not many sexually explicit monster films around....
Thanks again

by managing your files i mean checking them once or twice a day and weeding out the ones that are going nowhere or just spread out all over the place. and adding new ones in their place. the only problem ive really ran into with emule is that running it constantly and DL'ing 50-100 at the same time creates this immense temp file, so im always having to move things around and delete or burn to disk stuff to keep space on HD.

I posted about it for reshares quite a few times, one or two have complete sources but probably on extremely low priority.

I wish I also had a massive hard(drive), but with 12 giga for storage, is not much you can get simultaneously. I wonder if it is possible to view the movies while they download, like with torrents, that way one can see if the movie is sucking big time and no reason to continue downloading it. If you know please drop a word!

go to http://www.emule-project.net and look in downloads, there's a part file viewer plugin for VLC. Or you can specify a program as your preview media player in preferences in emule.

I'd give emule a try for at least 2 weeks and download as much as you can, then see if you don't like it better. Read-up on all the settings and make sure it is configured correctly. Play around with all the features and maybe explore some mods. Shouldn't take much convincing after that.

kartsmobile, that is excellent advice for anyone using emule - whether coming from edonkey or using ed2k for the first time. I get pissed off with hearing BT users who try emule for like 10 minutes and expect it to run at speeds equivalent to BT, then never use it again.

I may use those few sentences of yours again when someone else I see moans about how slow emule is. Simple, concise and sums it up perfectly. :D
