K, i've only JUST installed eMule since I joined here (I joined cos it seems a nice community rather than wanting to leech horror :P)

Anyway for 2 day's I've had a few files in my d/l list and not 1 has started! And one that I got off here (Sister Emannuele I think) says there's a 14 day que...

Just wondered if these were normal speeds to expect or if I may be doing sometthing wrong?

I'm not complaining, I'd use BitTorrent if I wanted something in seconds. I'm just concerned that I may be completely incompetent! :P

First off, that's probably the best choice of client.

Other things to check, do you have a High ID? If you look in the bottom right pane of your main emule screen (servers), it will show your IP and current ID. If it is low, you may have connection problems. You may need to forward the emule ports if you're behind a router.

eMule will be slow to start, but I wouldn't expect it to be that slow. You need to build up credits by uploading as well as downloading, so the more similar files you share, the better placed you'll be in people's queues for that type of file.

HTH :)

Thanks, I checked my ID and it's high and I'm not behind a router so maybe it's just the files I'm choosing! :P

That's the stats for Sister Emmanuelle. There's 26 full sources, which isn't too bad. Try queuing up something more popular like Land of the Dead and see if that moves any quicker.

Best way to use the Mule is to queue up lots of files, so you're always grabbing a little of something. Once the momentum gets going you'll find you have things completing regularly. :)

I think your definitely doing something wrong, just not sure what :?

Do you mean your comp and mule has been running for 2 days straight, and you still haven't got anything?

yeah if nothing started its frelled :o

Its normally the lowid problem or "firewalled", so if they are clear i can't think of a reason it would sit there doing nothing... unless your ports are throttled or your bandwidth is limited.

What's your connection?

I hope you don't have the files paused. :wacky: Just joking.... :)

Try about 10 high source files and see if the same thing happens. You will find that most of the files here are not high source and do take time to complete.

fucktheinter.net and drunkendonkey.net are a couple of places to find quality high source files.

I'm a guy, and not a virgin! :P Despite the long hair and obsession with the colour pink I do actually have a penis, that gets used!

And Spud, my ISP had no info on that but a speed test said 263kbps.

Strange nothing gets going though, connection looks fine. Did you try to queue some popular files already? Do you leave the mule on all the time, an hour or two a day isn't going to do the trick.

yeah i'm perplexed, i thought the line might be saturated with too high a upload, for 263, put it at about 18kb/s up and then up it if you can take more.

If you want a popular file, grab anything from http://www.verycd.com

That's the chinese, they are very fast, efficient people :)

Think the problems solved! :D I got Land Of The Dead yesterday and it only took 4 hours to complete, now the less popular files are going too. Thanks for your help folks! I certainly wasn't going to give up... this site is too cool!

Glad you are up and running now. What was the fix? Just a high sourced file primer?
