Did a search for this but the help given doesn't seem to help me.

As you can see in the screen I'm downloading Resident Evil 4 for PS2 (not a word Spud I aint got a Gamecube  ), and after 3 & half hours I am connected to 12 clients out of a possible 3001. I've got another 2 or 3 files like this where I'm connected to around 20 client out of a few thousand possible ones.

I have a High ID for both ED2K & KAD, i'm not using a router but am using Keiro Firewall which is set up correctly I would assume as I've got High ID's.

I got a max sources set at 1000 & Max connections at 400, I have had them higher but found these values in another help thread. I'm not limiting my upload any less than about 80%.

One strange thing is that if I test my ports using Emule I fail the TCP test

Quote:
TCP test failed! UDP test will not be performed.

How is this possible when I have High ID's.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

:beerchug:

***EDIT*** Just retested my ports via Emule and passed the TCP & UDP ones no problem :? ***EDIT***

lol, you suck! RE4 on the ps2 is probably better than nothing i guess, but its sure been getting bad comparative reviews. When you play it, just imagine the same game, but a lot better looking and with far better controls.

Too many connections normally means your connecting to too many sources too quickly, so they are queued up to be requested later (to avoid you hammering people), or across all your files you've hit your max connection limit.

What's your connections per second (or whatever its called again) set at?

it could also be that at their end you haven't been queued up.

Was that the same thread i told you it was a running joke to tell people to set higher values when they bitch about low speeds? Its a placebo buddy, the person saying it was either offering a placebo, or under the mistaken belief that someone who offered it as a placebo to them made their client go faster.
Check under statistics, and then connections and you'll see you've come nowhere near 1000 connections most likely ;)

Its what you tell newbies that don't understand the concept of waiting or upload = download. ;)

I've never played or seen the Gamecube version running, so I can play the PS2 version in blissful ignorance thinking it's the best version out there.

Max. New connections / 5secs.: 151
Max. Half open connections: 9

Don't think that was me, I did see PCA saying that it made a difference to him having higher settings in one of the threads I searched.

When I woke up this morning after leaving Emule running overnight as usual I was connected to a grand total of 2 clients out of a possible 3000 in over 12 hours. I know you should run emule for longer to gain better speeds but the speed isn't bothering me at the moment it's my inhability to connect to other clients.

Thanks for the help as usual Spud, but have you any other suggestions?

I had a similar problem when I tried Morphxt. I don't think the problem was with Morph, rather there was a conflict with it and the previous emule install. Luckily I had a full backup of the previous install and I simply dropped back to it.

I did however try a clean install of Morph and that worked OK. Thi led me to believe a definite conflict of some sort or another was going on.

Anyway it wouldn't hurt for you to try a clean install of vanilla emule, at least to try to isolate the problem. Just keep a backup of your current install.

well its unusual, I agree.

In the absense of any other advice, I'd say killingjokezzz has the best idea. of course, you then need to build up your credits from scratch all over again :(

Thanks for the suggestions guys :beerchug:

Had a look on the Emule website and found a few posts by people with a similar problem, and after fiddling around it doesn't seem as bad as it was. Only 1 file in my queue is connected to a low number of clients out few hundred.

I dropped the connections/5sec down to 50 from the deafault 151 that the wizard set for me, also had a fiddle with the max sources & connections and it seems to have balanced out a bit.

I'll wait and see what happens at the weekend when I leave emule on from Thursday to Monday, and if the problem comes back or gets worse I'll do a clean install of emule and start again with my credits. Still don't know how or why this started happening, I only noticed it in the last couple of days.
