I have the Anchor Bay set too, its WELL worth the cash. Looking foward to rips though, once I set up my 'media center'* I'll want super HQ mp4s of all my DVDs, and that would take to long on my own. Personal agendas aside, this series (the orig 3) deserves the best of treatment for its is royalty.

:beerchug:

(*huge HDD, library of ALL media, hooked up to high quality video/audio components.... gonna be sweet, and expensive, though I'm close!)

I'm still not happy with how the rips look. For some reason they seem to be stuttering a little.
The third one's giving me an additional problem. It has been mastered from different prints, hence it's approx 95% progressive and ~5% interlaced. :wacky:

Anyway, I'm working on the rips. :)

This smells like the Shitbusters have to do a 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 collection :D

We dont have any of the DVDs though, just part 4.

I have a nice rip of part 3 but the first two are giving me problems. At first I thought it was my deinterlacing method but if looks like there is some annoying stuttering and ghosting on the DVDs. I haven't been able figure out a solution yet (assuming there is one) and I'm probably gonna post some samples and turn this into a 'give poor Rogue some advice'-thread in the near future. :)

Conan is doing fine. Although it's a 125 minute movie with AC5 5.1 sound. Perhaps 1.46GB is not enough and maybe I should make it a 1/2 DVD :D

I've ripped some extra's from the Hellraiser DVD's, 4 short clips from the movie, short interviews (Andrew Robinson, Clive Barker, Ashley layrence and Clare Higgins) from Part 1 and Secrets of Hellraiser revealed from Part 4.

You can include those whenever u release part 1 if you want.
Secrets of Hellraiser revealed will be included in the ShitBusters AFS release me thinks :wacky:

My encoding rig is out of order atm (new hardware) so I'm not doing any encoding. Part 3 is finished though but I haven't checked it yet.

A friend gave me an Athlon X2 4200+. That's a nice upgrade since I was using a Pentium IV 2,6 Ghz before. Hardware's installed but no Windows/apps yet. And since I can't be arsed right now it's probably gonna take another week before it's up and running again.

About Hellraiser and Hellbound: what DVDs have you got? I'm beginning to think the Anchor bay ones haven't got the best transfer. So if yours are fully uncut you could make the first two aswell.

As soon as my rig is operational I'll re-encode some samples and post them in this topic btw.

I'd need to rent part 1 and 2 again, but that's a quick thing..

Anyway, as I remember, they had the same runtime as the Anchor release.

Were interlaced but picture looked good.

Would be nice to be able to compare. I have two sequences in which stuttering/ghosting is clearly visible and it's already in the source (also interlaced btw). I cut those and tried using different deinterlacers on them. At that time I thought the problem was the deinterlacer I used. After some messing around I checked the DVD again and found that my rip pretty much exactly reproduces the original image quality (and its problems).

The next step for me will be to figure out what exactly the problem with the transfer is and what can be done about it. If anything that is.

The first two Hellraisers have become some sort of a learning project for me. Most other stuff is much easier to rip (got two more movies almost ready to be released). I work on the Hellraisers between other rips.

Anyway, if you don't mind renting the DVDs you could make 1:1 copies to your HDD and we could do some testing and compare results to figure out which ones should be ultimately released. I'll resume working on Hellraiser sometime next week when the rig update is (hopefully) complete.
