Well I was going to wait and see what happened first, but I'll tell you anyway my story of woe. Yesterday, I was sat at work and then the postman comes in waving a jiffy bag about. So I was thinking yes the Viper, finally. He just sticks it in the hands of the first person he saw and fucked off as quickly as possible. Then my workmate passes me the parcel, i take it, it feels pretty light. I look closer and the side of the jiffy bag had split open in the post so there was fuck all in there due to shitty glue. So I email the fuckers that I ordered it from and told them what had happened and they just said you shouldn't have signed for it if it was damaged packet (I didn't sign anything, or have the chance to) and that it is my responsibility and to take it up with the post office. So I went to the post office but they said it's the sender's responsibility. So I emailed that to the company and they haven't got back to me since. I'm so pissed off about it, that fucking chip was ?50, if those fuckers burn me I will be so mad.

By the way, the company in question is  divineo.cn  Stay well away from these evil bastards

I've used divineo a few time and they've been pretty good to me, mind you I've never had to send anything back.

Sounds like the post office has nicked it to me.

If you didn't sign for it and it was delivered to a public place, then they've really screwed up and it is the responsability of the post office.

You need to get the plonker that signed for the parcel to back you up that it was screwed up.

This isn't the problem of divineo.cn at all. They have sent out the parcel, and the post office has messed up that parcel. Its their fault.

The post office has screwed up, and you need to tell them that you haven't signed for anything and that they have lost ?50 product. If they still deny there's a problem, just keep asking to speak to someone in charge and ask for the postman's name who delivered the mail.

This is entirely the post office fault and you need to put up a complaint with them. Especially if you didn't sign and it was in a public place.

Well the way I see it Divineo and the Post Office are both responsible. Divineo tried to say that I am responsible which is bullshit. I am lowest in responsibility. The shitty packaging Divineo used caused the chip to fall out of the package. I went to my post office and asked them what I should do and they said get in touch with Divineo and get them to look into it at their courier service. So I politely asked them (been polite in every email I sent them) to look into it and now it looks like they are just ignoring all my emails. I can't do anything at my post office, they need to sort it.

When I said I didn't sign for it, nobody signed for it. It wasn't signed for at all. I guess I could try and go into it further with the post office here, but I shouldn't be the one wasting my time like that, Divineo got my money, but I didn't get their product.

well your wrong, I fail to see how its Divineo's fault. If someone opened a dvd from play.com, I sure as hell wouldn't blame them, if would be the posties fault.

Good packaging can quickly become shit packaging when the postman opens it ;) They quite clearly didn't handle it with very much care.

Didn't you choose recorded/insured delivery?

The postman definitely did not open it. The way the package had opened was obviously due to bad glue. There was also another spot on the bag where the same thing was beginning to happen. And I really don't think that even if the postman saw the package with it's description of replacement PCB Board, he would think wow i am gonna steal that and mod my gamecube, he wouldn't even know what the hell it was.

And I ordered a dvd from play once and it never arrived. So I emailed them and they said wait 28 days to see if it arrives, then let us now and we will send you another one. I emailed them and they sent one out to me straight away. This is the way a real company should act. And I didn't singly blame Divineo, I blamed them both. The post office may well have fucked it up but Divineo couldn't give a shit when I emailed them, they just told me to sort it out, which when I tried to, I was just told to take it up with Divineo.

And I did choose recorded, but the courier was chosen by Divineo so it is a problem with their courier and their packaging. If Divineo use this courier all the time, they should easily be able to contact them and tell them about a problem.

Sorry to take this off topic briefly, but has anyone got Alien Hominid for the GC?

If so, could they PM me, or let me have an ed2k link?

New cobra bios:
Quote:
The software part was improved a lot while our low-level hackers had some great time in vacation :-)
- NTSC Regionfix issue on PAL systems is fixed!
- Wireless controller is now supported!
- Added a real GUI
- The following Cobra options can be changed (stored in Viper flash):
- Default boot action
- Boot action when the X-key is hold at boot time
- Video mode of the Cobra GUI (doesn't change Games' video mode)
- Behaviour of the lid sensor when booting Original BIOS
- You can get detailed GC Version Info
- You can explore the content of your GC discs (original and backups)
and even DVDs with ISO9660 filesystem! - You can flash your Viper GC by burning the flash file on a DVD
(but don't throw away your programmer in case of a bad flash! :-)
- You can execute homebrew programs (.DOL) from DVD, and enjoy many already-released homebrew productions!

damn it, you know perfectly well I have no newsgroup access!

Japanese version though i take it? I thought american wasn't out until next month?

@Krug, I also completely forgot... did you pay by credit card? If so there's a chance a) your covered for fraud, tell them it was fraud b) they have power of mediator, they are a multinational corporation of collosal size, and they're on 'your side' c) they have a lot of sway to crush div if they choose, in most cases, for the sake of face, the companies cave in almost certainly.

E-mail div and say that your product hasn't arrived, and that you wish to speak wish someone about taking further action. Then tell them that you will be contacting the credit card company over fraud and that you don't really want to have to force anything, you just want the product you've paid for that should be insured.

Divineo finally got back to me about it and they said their Post Office wouldn't accept responsibility either, but they decided to send me another chip anyway providing I paid the postage. So I paid it and hopefully I'll have the replacement soon. I was quite amazed that they decided to send me out another one after they're previous emails, maybe they're not as evil as I first thought.

But I ordered another chip now anyway from Bald Bouncer, although he took it off his site now for some reason. Ten minutes after I ordered that one I got my reply from Divineo!! Just my luck. I received the Bald Bouncer one already so hopefully in a couple of days I'll get the guy from work to install it for me. Don't worry I've got someone lined up to buy the Divineo chip when that arrives. I ordered some mini dvd-r too so hopefully they'll be here soon too, then Resident Evil 4 is gonna be the first test

I ordered the chainsaw too  but not out til february

On Wednesday, I installed the Viper. Installation went well (I didn't do the actual soldering, my workmate did) but soldering the yellow wire to the bios chip was pretty difficult as I couldn't remove my heatsink, but we did it with the bit sticking out anyway.

So then I flashed the 0.3 bios, wrote Resident Evil 4 to a mini-dvdr, but it wouldn't boot. The bios screen worked fine so I knew the install had gone correctly, so I tweaked my laser from 480 to 205 and tried to boot the disc again. But it didn't work still. So I wrote it to another brand of mini-dvdr I had and it booted!! I was playing for a while, then when I tried to enter the village through the doors (like in demo), I got a disc read error and it froze up. So I had to wait another day to get the 3rd brand of mini-dvdr that I had left at my girlfriends place, but on these discs, it worked perfectly and I have played 4 hours of RE4 without problems.

I also burnt Viewtiful Joe 2 on one of the discs that gave me the disc read error after booting, and this works perfectly too, even on that media. But I think I'll be sticking with the one that RE4 plays on, unless I discover further errors...

BTW I received my Viper from Divineo now, so I take it all back.

feel free to ask further questions...
