£ 79.95 :o :o :o
but then taking into consideration cost of games as opposed to the long list of free roms over at FH ( i presume you can load those up and they would play)

Yeah it's not cheap, although it's not MUCH more than a Supercard and Superpass

neat, but $125? That's still incredibly steep. :(

A cheaper option:

Uses microSD for storage. No GBA rom support.

whats the best solution for playing roms then? I don't have a ds lite but i've been thinking about buying one.... this seems to be most popular:

I have the M3 Simply. I haven't tried other options, so I don't know how it compares to other cards. I do know that it is slicker than snott on a doorknob at running NDS roms. Just transfer the roms to your micro SD, insert into M3 Simply and DS and play. No patching required. Fits flush with DS lite so it doesn't attract attention. It might take some time for some of the homebrew apps to catch up with DLDI implemenation. DS organize works well as a palm type app.

M3 simply/R4 conversion:

DS organize:

I wonder if Nintendo will try to stop their use or availability like Sony did with modchips. Perhaps future games will test for the presence of one of these cards somehow, and then we will have to pacth the roms? Surely, Nintendo must be looking at options.

Nintendo is much worse for modchips than sony is when they can, but cartidges like this are almost impossible to stop. Its not actually a mod, its an accessory. If it required you to rip your ds to pieces and modify it, some countries say that its illegal (its bizarre that you can't modify your own property), but these are just bootloaders.

Nothing they could do about the floppy disc loader for the snes, the zip disc rom injectors for the n64 (like the z64), or any of the bootloaders for any of the previous gameboys :) They do keep switching the way they compile the games so that they cause compatibility problems, but once the initial method is defined, it rarely changes radically. So hooray, the bootloaders will be around and working for a while.

Nintendo will continue to shutdown import dealers and shops that stock the devices though, but that's just effecting the ease of getting hold of one, i've never heard of them stopping production of a bootloader.

I had a ds in my shopping cart at amazon but i cancelled, i'm not sure if its worth the money still.

I'd want to play NDS + GBA roms, homebrew would be good too, the least hassle the possible.

What games do you guys play? I like Action, Action/Adventure style games. My favourite game to date is still Zelda: Link to the Past, so games like that or just generally what consumes your time, any games i can lookup to try and tempt me to buy?

Okay, i bought a DS lite from Game.

So what's the choice? M3 Simply? is that what you have PCA + co?

Where's a good place to buy which ever card of choice considering its shipping to the uk. I mainly just want DS and GBA games to play flawlessly, any other emulation or homebrew is a good addition, but the DS emulation and GBA emulation are the top priority. I got a black ds lite.

I've got a supercard SD & I'd go for it again TBH, every game works, it's cheap, GBA games work and it uses SD cards which are plentiful and cheap :)

micro-sd for a lite version of supercard still... d'oh, never gonnna use my fullsize ones outside of wii saves ever again

I had a look, and M3 Simply looks a better option and from reviews it seems to be top dog. I don't think it does GBA, which is fine for the time being I guess. I got it from divineo, so hopefully that will arrive soon :)

I just found several GB of NDS roms on my hdd, judging by the file dates i downloaded them may 2006

I bought Resident Evil and the new Super Mario bros, RE is awesome (even though i'd have liked more from the gamecube remake, like the defence weapon system :( ) :) I'll lend my cart to someone and load RE up via my rom, i want to see what the multiplayer is :)

New First-Person Shooter for Nintendo DS: The Ward
http://portablevideogamer.com/category/ds-news/

Quote:
Can you say creepy? Developers Renegade Kid, also know for their work on Stubbs the Zombie, today announced that they are working on a “next gen” title for the Nintendo DS (Take that Phil Harrison). The game is centered around the plight of a poor sod who finds himslef inexplicably dropped off in the middle of a creepy, nocturnal mental hospital, and must solve a series of macabre puzzles in order to escape. Not your grandmother’s typical DS fare, if you ask us, but from the look of things it is shaping up quite well. The team seem to have a good grasp on what they are trying to accomplish with the game:

Quote:
“The Ward offers a completely new experience on the Nintendo DS,” said Jools Watsham, Owner and Creative Director at Renegade Kid. “We’re pushing the Nintendo DS to its’ limits, with chilling environments, demented enemy characters, and real-world weapons all realized in 3D,” added Gregg Hargrove, Owner and Art Director at Renegade Kid.

Okay can someone recommend some homebrew for me? I figure I'm too much of a newbie to choose the right stuff off the bat.

I put all my DS roms into a folder called DS, and all my snes roms into SNES.

I have downloaded SNEmulDS for snes emulation. is this the best emulator for snes? It seems to be very glitchy, Zombies ran at 200% speed, Zelda i had a quick boot of it and the triforce in the beginning screen was above the logo instead of behind, Super Star Wars had the top part of the sand dunes missing, etc.

Any recommendations for homebrew? A list of essential apps, or some list seperated by type would be cool.

ps. elektroplankton is messed up shit

Can you easily find those m3/supercards on retail stores in Europe?

Author:  spudthedestroyer [ Fri Jun 15, 2007 7:13 pm ]
Post subject:

hell no, not any country with a police force and running water anyway

Eastern block would be more likely, or some shitty market stall. You'll never find them in game though.

Just buy one from the wibbly wobbly web.
