lol, now all I can picture is a Simpsons style man falling into a bottomless pit shouting "I regret nothing"

Well burning at a higher speed is much appreciated :) Been stuck at 4x for well over a year...

For me the biggest difference is the fact that I haven't burnt a coaster with the 108 (yet), as opposed to the NEC where it was 70/30 good to bad.

I'm loving the 108 and wish I'd never had the NEC.

I never burnt a coaster on my 104 that wasn't my own fault. Various cheap and cheerful media too.

Now I've got a 107 and I've not had a coaster on that yet either (All Datawrite Yellow @ 4x). My paypal account is bursting at the seams so I might just snag one of these as a 2nd drive anyway.

EDIT: As soon as SVP get a black one in stock.

have you guys firmwared the 108? I'm sure there'll be a firmware with numerous features and the like?

If so, any chance of a link? I'm incredibly lazy don't you know....

OKay the Pioneer looks pretty good, but has anyone actually tried burning anything as DL?

If so which make of disc? SVP have none in stock - again - and have not as yet said which ones will work with which burner.

Going to have to get one soon anyway, but do not want to end up with a pile of expensive coasters or useless discs, especially at the cost of the damn things.

benq isn't as good with the cheaper -r media ohgo, but apart from being a little company there's not much wrong with it.

I don't have any comparitive reviews though.

coolness, been burning media with no problems all day. Let us know PCA how it goes.

That firmware sounds like it enables 16x for all media which sounds... well :o I mean burning 4x @ 16x? or does it just uncap them, so you can burn stuff at any setting.

I firm'd the 105 so i could burn 2x at 4x with no problems but 4x -> 16x would be a big step :o

It uncaps it, BUT it makes my PC freeze at the first speed change :(
So back to stock for me I'm afraid

wat media at wat speed did u try?

2x @ 16x?

Yeah, I'd expect them to be a bit 'dodgy' for a while. Keep me posted as to any other firmwares though, would like to stay ontop of the game :)

Just ordered a black one from SVP, they just came into stock.

Now I got dual dvd writing and dual layer capability.

That's triple layer isn't it? :?
