Just grabbing this now to test it out, seems AVG 7 is giving me issues, mainly eating resources and bringing my system to a near halt. No matter what I do it is shit, only time everything is cool is when I shut it down LOL

This symantec thing, how do the updates work for this? Online via AV app or can I grab them seperately?

Sygate pro running as well as it always did.

Avast, I went for the home version, is running pretty cool at the moment, seems OK so far.

:edit: fuck me this is a resource hog, using 80meg Ram and 70meg paging file. Gonna try a few others now LOL

I am trying the new AVG free beta, so far so good, and it is surprisingly similar to the pay version.

'hxxp://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2004_08zz.php'

A couple of sites to compare different av progs, the latter doesn't open too well in Firefox and direct linking doesn't work, hence the 'hxxp'

damn, I need to find a new one! Been happy with bitdefender for a while, but now they suddenly made it check if the serial you use was genuine or not.
Suggestions?

LOL AVG still fine here too. I do periodically run a few online scans and the like too, never find anything of consequence tho so I assume AVG is working fine.

In all fairness to Norton....and Mcafee.....

They are the ones "dropping the ball" most often because they recieve the biggest pounding....

A lot of smaller antivir fare well because trojan writers don't take them into account....

Alot of viruses / trojans incorporate specific anti-norton/mcafee code .....
Some of these kinds of trojans are whispered ( though never proven) to be written by empolyees of rival companies in their spare time...

It's purified capitalism - creating the need for oneself... :matrix:

Cold thruth is : there never was a antivir that caught them all, there still isn't , and there NEVER WILL BE a 100% bulletproof antivir....get over it....

I'm running norton 2005.....a vast improvement over the horrible 2004.....and once a month I go see the online doctor, Panda online viruscanner...

That combo will have to do.....

used to have panda titanium but then i tried Clamwin and it found 6 nasties so i kinda killed tha panda :matrix:

Clamwin is opensource,it works and keeps on getting bigger

http://www.clamwin.com/

it doesn't look as fancy as the ones that are $$$$ involved, but it does wot it needs to do

That in itself is a good reason to avoid this crap, especially when they are targetted specifically.
