Yeah I looked in the bios for power. I was wondering if it was the powersupply. Its 350Watt, and I have a lot of drives... but why wouldn't it boot if I unplug all my drives? That's what I couldn't get.

There aren't any lockups in the system, it just won't boot :(

Your taking the piss rite? That aint funny :rage:

Those help articles are funny, there's a few now that I've seen that say "in windows" when the problem is "computer won't boot"

If I get it to load, I sure as hell aint resetting it , I will definitely look into the ACPI when I get home though. Next step is to clear the CMOS by changing the jumper setting. I clear it from the BIOS (like i stated, the bios screen is ultra slow too, I press delete and it takes 4minuts to even get into the bios... once its there its normal response speed, but that screen shouldn't take that long to appear).

oh and the voltages I can remember was, 12v i think was 11.99 or within 0.1v (might have been bang on),, 5v was 4.99v

the others fluctuated by about 0.02v every so often.

Half-Life 2 READ NFO-EMPORiO has been NUKED by some kiddies that were fooling around and trying to ruin for EMPORiO. Later on this file was UNNUKED by people that confirmed it's functionality.

Yes, it works, and it's real.

:beerchug:

first working cracked version is out.....

My pc is fine, PSU just doesn't provide enough juice.

Been playing through some of the early chapter, very, very nice stuff ;)

lol, you can do excessive stuff like pick up cans/bottles, but them in a crate, then throw the crate at someone

There's also some nice phsyics based puzzles, nothing challenging though. Needless to say it owns every FPS out there ;)

I FUCKING hate Steam though :(

I have a few problems :

HL2 is not available offline
HL2 cannot be backed up
NONE of the other games with the exception of codename gordon are avilable and I steam is so busy ATM you can't get them
Again, because steam is so busy it sometimes takes 5-10 attempts to launch HL2.

TBH it pisses me off and I now know why I pirate 99.9% of software. When manufacturers put this ridiculous level of security on their product, the ONLY people they hurt are the people who BUY the game, the pirates will play without all of this steam rubbish and the game will work as it should :)

I preloaded, I'm pretty sure HL2 can be backed up.. it gives me the option and says it will take 3.3GB for just HL2, I got everything else downloaded anyways...

Launches straight away for me.

Maybe its because I've had it all setup for ages?

BTW. I posted what seems like the only alleged working pirate way of playing in the games section.

It's astoundingly easy to pirate the game by the look of things.

AND steam has been MUCH better today :)

Just backup your entire Steam directory and unpack it on another computer, as long as you don't go online at the same time, both should be able to play, or just play in offline mode as long as steam doesn't see more than one occurence of the same account, you'll be fine :)

Bizzarely Valve themselves printed that one !

oh yeah, i knew that... that's not piracy really.

Valve really aren't nazis despite having you use steam; if you pay for the game, you should be allowed to play it where ever (they have this stated on their site somewhere), you can do the same with cs:source. I'm not a fan of online gaming, but I let my little brother use an installation of my game on another machine. Obviously you can't use the account at the same time. However, with HL1 they both worked fine offline at the same time.

That will be why valve stated so themselves :) Don't expect this from companies like m$ though ;)

Out of interest for all those that have played it, what are people's impressions, likes and disklikes about the game?

Try to keep it *spoiler* free though ;)

Absolutely intense, the best game for ages. It's so beautifully made and deserves every bit of praise it gets. The level design is so brilliant that it puts gaming moments like facility in Goldeneye to shame. There's a perfect balance of tasks too, using barrels to counter balance the wait of a ramp you have to take a hovercraft over is sure genius... there's this awesome level too, which is under a train bridge, and the railing has fallen everywhere, so you have to make your way across, you flick a switch and alarms go off, a gun ship drops down and sprays bullets everywhere.

The guns are more satisfying than Duke3ds shot gun on those normal cannon fodder guards (the ones that hold their necks and bleed to death). It really is great.

For horror fans there's awesome homages to the horror genre, from Father Gregory shooting 'sinners' from the roof tops, awesome freaks that climb across walls... there's an ace 28 days later like zombies in the tunnel sequence, and very impressive is the "STAY ON THE ROCKS!!! don't come any closer bit", where you have to not stand on the ground else bugs come out (and you have to manipulate metal plates to move round).... Tremors mod please!

and speaking of bugs, some1 simply has to make a Starship Troopers mod!

Gameplay is very varied, but not too varied to spoil the game.

Likes are pretty much everything. Dislikes aren't very much, just the odd, what would make it even better. Take the gravity gun, I really would like to use it on bad guys, but its understandable why you can't (it would be waaaaaaaaaaayyy to easy and you'd only ever use one gun). I suspect a mod will make it so the gravity gun works on enemies, but I wish it worked on dead bodies... speaking of which, the way they die is just so fun. Their bodies fall over railings and slump before dying...

I guess the bad bit in some peoples mind is steam, but its not a problem, I fail to understand why it would be really... especially since everyone here will have a net connection so just strikes me of irrelevant. Sad if you don't have a net connection but your unlikely to play it otherwise (since your setup is shit)...
/me plays the world's smallest violin
Most of the complaints are from people who aren't going to buy it anyway so what does it matter?

So I don't really care about steam and a plus side is there really won't be as many twats on CS if I ever decide to play that, that is until the xbox version comes out

It really is a great game, best FPS for damn sure.

the game arrived to my mailbox today, so I get to play tonight
I ordered the Standard Edition and afterwards I read somewhere that it arrives as 6 CD's :o and the Collector's Edition would be on 1 DVD...
I'm glad to note that this is not the case

spud: mind adding a *SPOILER ALERT* on top of your post? :?

Recently, one of the HL2Files.com members here, alerted me of a pirated warez version of Half-Life 2, apparently released via the Bittorent network. I immediately forwarded this to Gabe Newell of VALVe Software.

A couple of hours later, Gabe replied with the following:

Gabe Newell wrote:
We're running a bit of an experiment. We're keeping track of the accounts that do this and will be shutting them off.

So, as you can see, VALVe Software have released a test "warez" version aimed at catching people out. These people will have their accounts deleted and will be banned from Steam.
