Backing up xbox games, with DVD5s you can just put them through DVDdecrypter i think and burn, you don't need to alter most of them. DVD9s you need to copy to a DVD9 or you need to remove some content from the discs, this is a game by game basis.

If you mean burn downloaded games, just use dvddecrypter. They work almost always, there's nothing you really need to do beyond burning them. Make sure you got a decent dye discs, like G05.

I didn't think you could copy Xbox games using DVD Decrypter (isn't an Xbox iso a different format called XISO), from what I read the only way to copy games is to FTP them back to your computer and then create an ISO with a program called Qwix or Craxtion.

I've only done it once, but that's the way I had to do it. I tried making an DVD ISO image in nero but all it gave me was very small filesize ISO.

i dunno, i never tried I just naturally assumed you backed em up the same way you back everything else up thats poc readable, that would explain the xbox game ripping tool on the dash.

edit, your right, seems the pc dvd drive doesn't even reads the DVDs.... disregard the bit about backing up. The burning bit is fine.

It's really easy to make your own backups, just put the disc in the xbox, connect to it, ftp everything over to pc and make an iso with craxtion.
If you need space, there's this website with a shitload of games and the files which can be deleted.

You might need both the 007 and the MA save on your xbox HDD then tho. Not sure about it but that's the case with the SC save. I'm actually pretty sure PCA already told you this. He knows everything, hehe.

hey has anyone got a fix for this problem... I downloaded WWE: Wrestlemania 21 only to find it was not an iso but lots of files. I used an xbox iso app to make an iso and burnt. It freezes on the copyright THQ screen at the begining, so i copied the files to my xbox hdd and it boots fine from there, although the cut scenes sound is like 5 seconds out of sync.

Does anyone know how to fix this? There's a file called:
default.xbe_orig
and one called:
default.xbe

So i'm wondering if its been messed about with or something?

When you copy a game to your xbox harddrive with dvd2xbox it does an acl patch and removes the disc check. This results in a patched default .xbe.

The old and original default.xbe from the dvd will be renamed to default.xbe_orig (so this is the original and unpatched one from the dvd).

If you have these two files default.xbe_orig and default.xbe and want to burn it to a dvd, you should delete the patched default.xbe and rename the default.xbe_orig back to default.xbe.

You can burn the extracted files from the iso with nero:

open nero, but don't use dvd rom iso, scroll down to dvd rom (udf), go to the udf tab and check the force dvd video compatibility mode required for xbox.

Then press new, drag and drop your files and burn.

Always worked for me.

This should stop your dvd from freezing.

Then try to copy your dvd to your xbox using dvd2xbox (v0.70 is the newest version), maybe it corrects your sync prob too...

ah right, i thought it would be having to delete the default.xbe... seems this guy screwed up 2 releases of the game. First one froze, second one was patched and unpacked so it only works from the hdd.

So i guess i'll just restore the orig and use xbox iso creator app and burn with dvddecrypter (don't even have nero installed anymore)

Spud recommended I get an XBox for playing my download DVD's and advised me to come here to softmod it.

I've made the delightfull looking home made cable with the terminal blocks and plugged it into my PC. I can get the Contoller recognised and functioning but the PC and AR dont recognise the memory card. I'm sure if the PC part was sorted AR would be no problem. How do I get the PC to allow the momory card to be used, are there any drivers I need?

Use DVD2Xbox to copy games like G3rMaNIaC said. It works on like 99.9% of all games.... some games use the hdrive character limit to screw it up (that means that some key files are to long to be stored on the hdrive and there for can not be copied.) To get around that use a FTP app that can access your dvd drive on the xbox and copy strait to the pooter.... then crk the xbe and burn

Try finding a app called Craxtion 4+ it can crk xbe's, copy from the xbox dvd to the hdrive and also build proper xbox compliant iso's, as WELL as making multi game disks. (a small menu system allowing you to have multi games on a single disk.. it evens has options for images so you can have proper game covers in your menu) There are zillions of other and probably newer cool iso apps for xbox... try Xbins in irc to find the latest stuff. You can also get the most recent builds of the Xbox Media Center. You should then be able to burn these isoz with pretty much any software.

There is one thing though and if someone has another fix then let me know... but if you want to burn your avi's onto a DVD disk to watch though XBMC you may have problems getting the xbox to read the files... i have no idea why but for some reason if you just do a default options burn with a closed disk in recordNOW Max they just seam to work.... ... though if you burn single files larger than 1.5 gig they will not show up for some reason... so split your files into cd size sections..... ...

I downloaded the xbox game, i have ripped nothing yet or really need to since i don't ever intend on renting or buying anything for it. The problem is it only works from the xbox hdd, i have tried the restoring the unpatched version of the xbe and it freezes. The game is WWE: Wrestlmania XXI.

I have no problems playing downloaded isos, reading xvisd or anything like that at all. I have no compatability problems with discs (samsung driver), and know about the xbox iso format and all that jazz so i doubt that's the problem. It must need some kind of patch/hack to get it working. Just this one game will not boot past the copyright THQ screen from DVDr and from the hdd its sound is about 10 seconds out of sync.

I don't seem to be the only one with this problem with WWE: Wrestlemania XXI unfortunately.

i don't, modchips are a waste of money. If your memory card isn't found, i can't think of a reason... your not using a cheap crappy one are you? If its anything like the gamecube they corrupt and glitch all the time.

Mob chips a waste of money? Do not think so... I'd rather pay a few bucks more and have zero problems than screw around with boot disks, memory sticks, networking apps, software versions etc etc etc.

Just open box, solder chip and bang... everything works just as if the box was always made to do that.

Are you using the US version of the software? it won't work with the european version
