There is usually a version on xbins, or rather a seperate XBMC server.
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php
Simple and you won't get anything bad.

Major thicky question here, I want to update my XMBC, what is the easiest way for me to do it?

I purchased my Xbox pre softmodded from a gentleman in Scotland.

To date I have not Ftp'd (is that a verb?) anything onto it i just use CD-RW or DVDS depending on the size of the file?

There's nothing stopping you just burning it to a cd/dvd and just copying it over to the relevant directory. It's probably easier in the long run to ftp it across, but no big deal if you don't

I would just ftp the new version over the old version on your xbox. If you really don't want to, you can burn the contents on cd/dvd and copy it over the old content of XBMC.

I have the softmod pack and LtoolsMA save you originally released, if that's what you mean.

I can upload them to gmail or ftp if you don't have em anymore.

hey has anyone got an extra memory card they're willing to sell or can tell me where i can get an official memory card cheap from?

A friend wants me to softmod, but he's only got this sucky logitech memory card and it crashes when i try and use action replay to put a save on it (had to use usbview to modify the drivers to get it recognised).

Or if anyone knows if you can get it to work, let me know.

You need to borrow one again spud?

You could also try a USB stick if you have one, same principle, xbox pad connector to usb female, plug in the usb key and see if the xbox recognises it (about 50/50)

na its okay pca, that's more hassle than its worth.

I'll just look round the shops and see if there's any official memory cards, if not i'll buy a wire with the usb female plug on.

Yes! I've just played a backup DVD on a XBOX 1 without any modchip/softmod, just a hacked firmware :-) This completes our work on the XBOX 1. The drive I modded was a 8050L. The good news is that the firmware in this drive is very similar to the firmware in the GDR3120, used in the XBOX 360. I think it's time for me to buy one now :-)
Thanks to all the contributors in the firmware hacking thread!

Theoretically (as the drive reports the disk as a DVD / CD and NOT a CD/DVD-+r/RW this SHOULD allow copied games onto Xbox Live
Only problem is ATM it doesn't allow booting of homebrew (so no XBMC, just piracy)

Bring on the 360 hack please

'the end', i assume you mean of piracy free operation and turning a phrase, rather than of microsoft

lol, they'll make shit loads irrespective.

piracy isn't really an indicater of anything and doesn't really have that big an effect on a market place in the scale of things. The only place i can imagine it doing damage is if the product is relatively shoddy and not really worth buying in the first place.

As long as they have the software, which is the issue, and they have their live zone, etc. a company can make it work for them. Lets not forget it is microsoft, so piracy doesn't really effect it like say, it would nintendo or sega :)

erm... or rather, to do with the news posted, great stuff :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

Hi, I've been using PC Arcade's softmod guide which has worked great so far, but, after I've ftp'd the softmod addons to the xbox, it still boots into the MXM menu.
Someone else had the same problem on page 9, and it was suggested to try dualboot option in the MXM menu, which I cannot find. :?
I'd really appreciate any advice on how to get the new dash working :beerchug:

Don't you have your dvd tray open while booting?
