Now just waiting for the inevitable windows flasher and leak ;)

Excellent!

Props to the hackers, I guess its sweet revenge for them fitting so many crappy drives in the original xbox that the drive is the point of attack :googley:

Sounds like eventually you won't even need a modchip if its just a firmware update, even if at the moment you would need to remove the firmware chip.

Thanks for the post :beerchug:

There's a windows flasher in development and because MS went for a standard SATA dvd rom, you won't need any hardware mods.

I'd pick up an xbox360 sharpish though as this will almost certainly be fixed in hardware revision 2

The REAL irony here though is that the first xbox had the same security hole, but becasue there were so many other holes, no one ever thought to exploit it until the 360 came out

i don't have the money to waste on one really, there's no games that interest me enough to spend over ?100 on one. :(

I haven't played a game for months now.

 I was banking on it being hacked (like the first versions of consoles usually are) and that's the main reason I picked one up.

The cost of the console over it's life is fairly cheap if you don't have to buy games, certainly worth the earldy adopter surcharge IMHO

For anyone who DOES want an xbox 360, my advice is to pick one up soon before MS change the hardware to fix the flaw (like thay did on the xbox 1)

bah.. stuff that I say wait untill the have got a modchip or whatever down to a science and lots of homebrew soft and the price is really cheep.

IU stioll think that XBMC on 360 will be worth it as you will be able to play high rez files.

More news.....

We have opened up a new forum dedicated to Xbox 360 Development

http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=69

Please ask any questions you like and give any input that you see fit. If you would like a staff position to help run this forum please contact admin@teamxecuter.com

Also if there are any high end designers out there who'd like to take on the job of redesigning our front page please also email us at the same address.

We have made some progress with a new read/patch/write app and no doubt you will all be plugging in your drives to your PC and having some fun shortly - all for free too as no modchips required (and yes we still want to play!)

Here is what we envisage...

> Connect Xbox 360 DVD-ROM to PC
> App to update firmware with magic code
> Connect DVD-ROM back to 360 - and away you go

Also this site has some killer information : http://www.kev.nu/360/dvdshort.html

Obviousley the only use for this is piracy - hence you wont see any modchips (not from us at least - however they wouldn't be needed anyway - however we do have a few cheap tools to make life much easier - more on that soon) Still a long long way off from unsigned code - but it's a start....

Thanks to The Specialist for reviving the scene! We understand he doesn't want to release anything due to possible backlash - but there are many of us who would - and will.

Keep your eyes on our 360 forums for updates.....

btw Qwix2 Rules !

My bolds - looks like backups on the 360 will be with us in a couple of weeks :)

Xexter has found a way to run a NES emulator on the XboX 360 using MCE. At the moment there is no sound but it runs at almost full speed.

Well, that was scary!

Taking the 360 apart is tricky, I then had to disconnect every drive from my PC to flash the 360's dvd and it didn't work, even originals were detected as DVD movies :(

 My fault though, I hadn't put the Key in correctly, I think I've got it working now (it's booting originals), but it's difficult as the images you need to create are not simple .iso's like the xbox

The REALLY scary about it was when I reassembled the 360 it did the red ring of death!

I'll keep you all informed and if it works I'll do another tutorial :)

Any chance of anything simpler/less risky/just plain better on the horizon ?
Also, you're still stuck with the region code not ?

No, and I think it will be a while before there is, it's taken MONTHS to get this

I assume that tools to make life easier will be released soon though, If not I'll knock something up in VB to insert the relevant Security sectors into game images and keys into firmwares etc.

Yeah which is a PITA, but alot of 360 games are region free, there's a list here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Re ... _360_Games

Any news on Xbox Live with the firmware flashed PC Arcade?
Personally I'm interested in Live functionality than Back ups at the mo.
