Why do you buy a DVI-F to VGA-M Adapter when you don't have a DVI plug on the back of your computer?
What was your intention? Connect which device to which?

I think that the topic pretty much says that "computer to LCD tv".

Now you are using: VGA -> DVI -> HDMI and it does not work, right? :)

I'm not totaly in to this conversion and HDMI thing, but could it be that your graphic card does not output a HDMI compatible signal? HDMI should transfer uncompressed video/audio with some kind of copy protection scheme if I'm correct. I believe, that you can't do what you want with a simple adapter thingy you are using.

A better site to search and ask questions would definitely be: http://www.videohelp.com :beerchug:

Doh, you are right. Sorry!
Here is what I could find for you killmoney: http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/02/08/ho ... your-hdtv/

Quote:
Before you plug in your cable from your PC to your HDTV, be sure to set the resolution to one that is compatible with your HDTV. If your computer monitor and your HDTV only share one common resolution, set it to that until after you get a picture on the HDTV, then change it to the desired resolution. When possible, always try to use the displays native resolution. For example on some HDTVs the native resolution is 1280x768.

Is this a desktop? I'd just get a cheap card that has the connections you need. Will be better than the integrated you have now and provide you with more flexibility.

You must have a video/graphic card in your pc, otherwise you don't need a monitor either. :) Older ones have a VGA jack, the newer ones have a DVI jack.

I would try that resolution thing RedVeil mentioned and maybe check if your TV supports computer input signals? :?

What I was trying to say is: RedVeil probably meant video card = graphic card.

If I had said it, I would have meant it.

Simply lower the resolution of your desktop under windows - I am sure you know how to do that. Then plug in the cable and check if you get a signal. :beerchug:

I connect my HTPC to my TV using DVI-HDMI and have found that there are certain graphics cards that just will not handshake with the TV. It's not down to resolution or anything else, just seems to be a case of the TV not liking the output from certain cards.

Hmmm, doesn't sound very logical though.

I use an Nvidia 8800gtx to connect to my TV using DVI to HDMI, works pretty well, BUT it would be nice if you could set independent resolutions on each monitor using Nvidia's (crappy) control panel :)

So you use the second jack to connect the TV to the computer and use the secondary display in windows to adjust the resolution?
That would also be a good solution for killmoney, if he's graphic card had two video output jacks. Does it have two killmoney?

It's a (very old) nVidia GeForce 5700 LE and the TV is a Toshiba 37" LCD. Couldn't get any ATi graphics card to handshake. :(

I think you should read the reviews. :)

Cons: Will not work with HDTV monitors even with a HDMI cable.

Edit: Looks like it depends on the monitor too.
