I was woken by a loud bang in the night & then the pc shutdown & I went back to sleep.

Tried turning the pc back on this morning & it wouldnt get past post before shutting down so obviously there was a major problem.

Upon inspection, I discovered that the plastic CPU cradle that the fan clips onto had snapped. All 3 pins have sheared off completely making it impossible to hold the fan down.

I've done a temp repair by stealing the water cooler off the other pc & using the K8 clip that came with the kit to hold it on. This meant that I've had to refit the old fan to the AM2 original socket in the other board.

Anyone have a scrap s939 board that I can have the old cradle off of please? :googley:

Edit: Wheres the edit button gone? :shadey:

Socket 939/754 K8 cradles have 2 central screws to hold it onto the board, which is what I'm after. AM2 have 4 screws.

Whoa, that sounds extreme! How did it happen? Did it get overheated or something?

I have absolutely no idea how it happened.

I guess after 3-4yrs of being on 24/7 it finally got brittle & snapped.

At least I'm back up & running although I really need a new cradle & no shop in this poxy little town can get me one, grrrr :suicide:
