Post subject:  Wires (audio / video) - Quality and where to buy?

Okay, this is long over due and quite important regarding my current setup. My sky digital (or didgical for the Scarey Spices amongst you) box is over in another room and I'm currently piping it through into my room via normal coax arial cable. Quality is okay, but certainly could be better and I mean I want the best quality for captures.

So I think I need some scart wire. Now I was also wondering which type would be the best quality, S-VHS, SCART, Composite, etc. I have a digital box in my living room then in my room a video recorder and DV bridge (with composite and SVHS inputs).

I think the best suited wire would be a SCART to 3 phono.

So with that in mind, I feel I need to buy some decent length but high quality cable. About 10m is needed, which is a lot... too much to go into my local panasonic shop and ask for anyway.

Does anyone know a decent electrical stockest IN THE UK (important ;) ) where I could get the wire from?

Your local Richer Sounds should stock a decent range of cable on the drum and pre-made cables, plus they're pretty good when it comes to the knowledge of what you'd need.

Other than that, online :

I've used Keene before, their aftersales service was superb. I ordered the wrong type of cable so I rang them to organise an exchange. The correct cable was cheaper, so they had to :

a. Receive the cable sent back by me.
b. Send out the correct cable
c. Issue a refund for the difference to my credit card.

All of which they did with no fuss or fuck-ups. Doesn't sound like much, but try doing that with someone like dabs.com and you'd find that sawing your own leg off would be a nicer experience.

Haven't used lektropacks.

I went with ebay in the end. Great service, great quality wires and a much wider range than mos tof the stores I looked at.
