Ever since Dreamcast production ceased in 2001, the console's diehard fans have held out hope that it would rise from the ashes. This week, hope came in the form of a one-paragraph press invitation to Sega's E3 presentation. "Learn about SEGA's 2004 lineup and hear BIG news you'd NEVER guess," read the invite, which promised "explosive news--something even YOU won't be able to guess!" (Emphasis in the original.) Within minutes, Sega loyalists were churning out messianic predictions of a new and improved Dreamcast. "Financially revitalized, finally debt-free, Sega now firmly believes it has what it takes to rule the roost,".

I'd be suprise (but pleased) if it was a new Sega console, but IMHO it aint gonna happen

Lets hope so d0c, as I think PCA stated in a different topic, Sony's rule could be over as no giant has held the reigns for more then 2 generations!

My prayers are with SEGA with they make such a venture

No-one in their right mind would buy a SEGA console, the only viable hardware they have is the atomiswave (a souped up dreamcast), and SEGA have a very bad reputation for dropping their hardware bases the second they smell trouble, MegaCD / 32X built the coffin, Saturn built the nails and the Dreamcast hammered them in and made sure that even SEGA fanboys (except the insane ones

) wouldn't buy their hardware again

i will buy sega i dont care what happen to saturn, 32x, megacd and the bad reputation... still even today dreamcast kick playstation's ass... i know sega make consols for the future and not crap like cheap peecee wannabe consol like xbox and ps2, they dont bring nothing new and fresh, we have pc now we dont need them, the only real consol on the marked is gamecube. so there is plenty of place for one more real consol, sega will always be the bad boy choice of consol and sonic is the coolest mascot thats a fact nothing you can do about. i like strange horror movies and i like strange consol makers i dont choose becouse of brand, i dont follow the masses. a rebelion will get my support if it fail i dont care its worth the money to show other its ok to be thinking, doing diffrent and it is allowed to get a fresh new beginning again...

You say sonic is the coolest mascot?? Have you played Sonic Heroes?? it's terrible, as with most modern Sega products.
It's not a question of being different, it's a question of spending your money on a product which will still be supported in a years time, the dreamcast could well have been a player today if sega hadn't abandoned it straight away (certainly Hardware wise it's as good if not better than PS2).

As for sega making consoles for the future, I don't know what you mean, the future of what ?? it's the future now for DC and where is it??

Even Sega's fanboys have givin up on them d0c, time to do the same (cos you sure as hell aren't going to see any new hardware from them)

i dont give up on sega that easy.. that xbox and ps2 you have you can put it up :moon:

where the sun dont shine... i will never buy that crap... if i gonna get xbos/ps2 its for free and with modchip so i can pirate everything they puke out... i just hate them they ruined it for sega thats why there isnt any future for dreamcast... blood suckers thats what they are nothing more nothing less...

No, Sega ruined it for Sega, Sony didn't help, but why should they??
If Sega showed ANY sort of commitment to hardware, they wouldn't have been in the state they were / are.

As I said the DC is a superb bit of hardware and could well be viable today IF sega had committed to it, but they didn't and it is dead

The only thing awesome on the dreamcast wast the first soul calibre ...and that wasn't even sega's....

I saw they brought out a new version of outrun on the XBOX .....

I don't think anyone will give a shit....in this time of GT & Project gotham......

STILL , I WOULD DEFINETLY GIVE SEGA Another chance IF they got there shit together again....
I mean I bought a Gamecube just 3 months ago , knowing it's a sinking ship......but it had enough good games to warrant the aquisition

Tell you what d0c, if you REALLY hate M$ buy (not get given) an Xbox and chip it, M$ lose ~$50 - $100 PER SALE, the more they sell, the more they lose

If you never buy a game M$ lose BIG time

Hell I've bought 2 and @ ?79.99, I think I might make it 3, just imagine how much they're losing on THAT deal

yes i know about the so called sega games, its not sega quality...its just been slapped a sega sticker on..

yes i want to see sega give it another ago again, they had great ideas for hardware and was always a step ahead for its time... just look at the stuff they did come out with...
