Post subject:  Xbox Questions

hehe... hoping someone with an xbox can help me out with some bits of advise (PCA probably, you seem to be the resident sexboxer  )

Firstly, this is more of a "lost page", there has been somewhere a link to a site which lists how to find out what model number an xbox is, what revision and what drive it has. There were little charts saying what revision to date, and some photos of telling the drives apart. Anyone grab the url?

Secondly, what is the current revision and drive used in the Xbox? I assume its 1.5 which is slightly modified, but now working with chips :) However, I couldn't find out what drives modern xboxs come fitted with? I do not want a piece of shit that can't play any of my media. Can you replace the drives with any old DVD-rom drive?

Thirdly, I hear sexchat live... erm xbox live ( ;) ) bans you if you got a chip installed. Can you turn the bastards off? Better yet, can you do it with plug and play ones without takin the case off and changing the bugger? I have no real intention of playing any crappy games online, but it never hurts to be safe... unless you drown from packing too much scuba gear.

Fourthly, what media do you use for playing movies? I've started burning 6 movies to a DVD-r in nero as is, will the thing struggle with something so simple?

..probably more qs to come later...

no. Xbox Live will not ban you.... it WILL ban you if you have the chip enabled when you connect, but you just have to turn it off and then connect. There is also firmware now that will STOP you from acidently connecting.

I use verbatium DVD-R but I had a lot of trouvble getting dvd-r data disks to be read by the Xbox.. ther is a application called "Stomp Recordnow MAX" If you use this application and burn with it set to defaults after a fresh install the media CAN be read no problems in XBMC ---> This is wear I solved this problem @ hhah
