Nintendo Criticizes Microsoft and Media
Says both are pushing too strongly for next-generation systems.

Game Industry Biz reports that Nintendo of Europe's managing director David Gosen has criticized Microsoft and the media for too quickly looking to next-generation consoles instead of focusing on current hardware. Gosen, who spoke at the ELSPA Games Summit in London, said that Nintendo would stick to the five-to-six-year console life cycle regardless of what Microsoft did. "In every cycle, some manufacturer not profiting from the current cycle is eager to kick-start the next one," he said, insinuating that this was the reason Microsoft was so eager to jump to its Xbox successor. Gosen blamed the media for glamorizing next-generation consoles. "For every game magazine editor bored with current products, there are hundreds of thousands of gamers around the world just discovering them," he said and added, "Hard as it may be for those editors to believe, not everyone outside their circle is prepared to pay a high price for a new console." Gosen also called Grand Theft Auto a "dead end street" due to its gratuitous violence. |
And what's even stranger is that it was a european and not some crazey japanese samurai welding psycho... if i'm not mistaken, there's a hidden slagging off of Sega 'eager to jump into the next market'. Then again, nintendo have room to talk... they've done the same in the past.

No wonder Nintendo's sales are slouching. They have morons like this in charge. Now let's see, they do have RE - which is what - gratuitous violence. What a fricking cry baby.
Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Japan are the only ones that matter, which is very odd, since Europe is a bigger territory than America.
