Post subject:  DVD Authoring, best software?

I've never actually sat down and tried to make a proper DVD, with title screens and everything, but I was wondering, what is the best software for doing this?

There are a lot on the market it would seem, but I'm looking for something simple and decent quality that will yeild decent results. I was wondering if any of you guys author your own dvds, and if so what do you use?

Any recommendations welcome.... I looked at Doom9 guides and they seem to use some very expensive, very complicated methods... are all of them like this?

I had problems with Maestro in that it wouldn't run under Windows 2000, I read somewhere it would only work under NT :-o

DVD-Lab has exactly the same interface as Maestro and is just as powerful. It is absolutely superb and you can't go wrong, it gives such professional results.

Don't try Ulead DVD Workshop, it gives terrible sync problems which are well documented on t'internet and Ulead don't seem to give a damn.

I think pro can handle subtitle streams, and standard can't.

Wouldn't put money on it though.

Hmm I used DVD Lab with 2 films I recorded off Sky on the set top DVD recorder and got bad sync probs, although from what I could find out in forums it doesn't like vobs from a set top recorder for some reason :? I gave up and ripped them to xvid in the end.
