Don't you just know it. Look I actually paid for some software, oh yes stop laughing in the wings there. And it was....drum roll...Kaspersky AV. Great reviews, quite cheap too at ?28.

AND guess what it don't work on my PC. Not only that it gives me the first BSOD I've ever had. Which means I can only uninstall it from safe mode. What concerns me (and probably adds to the problem) is I have so much 'crap' installed that works OK, yet this so-called ultimate AV can't run on my PC.

Obviously it's a conflict somewhere, but that's not the point. Nothing else has ever crashed my PC on startup before, so this software has an inherent problem as far as I'm concerned that needs addressing. Of course there are some great forums out there which sadly haven't cured the problem as yet, but more worryingly KAV support has been awful.

When I decided to actually buy an AV program, it was a toss up between KAV or NOD32. I think the flip went the wrong way on this occasion. As in the subject, sod's law.

Oh yeah as an aside it runs fine on my laptop, so I'll leave it as that. Weirdly though it picked up 3 trojans on a 'clean' install of XP Home that had only been used for half a day.

damn... I'd never buy antivirus, you can get perfectly acceptable solutions for free. Same goes for firewalls.

Last software I bought was Extreme Movie Manager... well worth it :beerchug:

Well Spud I'm running the free AVG 7.0 beta right now, as obviously KAV doesn't work. I think I had a guilty, braindead sorta moment buying Kaspersky. Must admit it does run well on me old lappy though......in fact Spud you are a VIRUS *yikes* delete, anihilate.....be gone forever LOL

Now KAV has knackered my laptop too  And there was barely anything on it. Said it had found a virus which needed deleting on startup - on doing so Kaspersky itself wouldn't start, Sygate got totally screwed up and my LAN refused to work. Hours later I got so frustrated I just did a clean install of windows. I want my money back...
