Post subject:  DVD-rom driver update?!

Hi, I wanna update my dvd-rom driver but I wonder if it's dangerous?!
Can it harm my dvd-rom? It says it will flash the driver -> is it erase the memory or something like for phones? Can it be damage by this?
I have a Lite on Dvd-rom : JLMS XJ - HD166S

The reson is cause i bought a dvdr and cannot rip it! It rips half of it and then says something IO error! I use Dvd Decrypter! Oterwise it plays fine on stand alone dvd player.

pls help?
Thx

as long as you don't do something stupid, like try and use it whilst flashing, or turn off your pc halfway through... not really.

Make sure you get a reported working one though.

I've got IO errors when ripping only when the dvds were scratched (sent them back to the dvd rental place and the replacements copy fine, so its definitely scratches).

Damn I wish i could get my damn drive to even except the flash update that it's been needing. I have a Ricoh MP5240a ver. 1.11 and everytime i try to flash it i get an error "different type of code...NG NG NG.. blah blah!
I tried two different flashes OEM and this one and it won't update the muther!@!!!! :matrix:

So if you can update your DVD-Rom then do it, though as the great spud had said
