Nicest deal I've seen on a 200G seagate to date.. just wish them damn mail-in rebates were not limit one per household.... and the whole fact that halloween is comming up and I need my cash :-o |

Can someone please tell me the point of a rebate again please? It some really bizarre american thing, but why don't they just knock money of the RRP or something? |

That is a very good description of mail in rebates..... and why companys use them.... Me.. the second I get home with my new item that has one I check to make sure it works properly and then I make sure I get that rebate mailed out either that day.. or the next day (depending on whether my mail has already came or not) I always like getting those checks back in the mail 2 months down the road after I've forgotten about them being mailed out... the cash usually is usefull then.. or moreso than when I bought the item

So its like a special offer..."buy this and you will get ?30 cash back" hoping that people will forget? They just knock ?30 off the price as far as i'm aware here

they are not quite common here yet in teh uk but they do manifest themselves sumtimes - they suk btw, cos i useless n almost always 4get 2 send em off. how many ppl actually mail back warranty cards let alone coupons 4 rebates/free fluffytoys/pens etc!? |
