Not milking IMO, just trying to increase product range and price. Makes sense cos ppl who just wanna basically play games can get the system at a cheaper price, those who have higher demands/uses can also get a system to suit there needs. The standard and HD models I can understand, but the PC version could be a nightmare for them. Consoles tend to have a long generation life, where as PC's are a constantly changing medium and any system they bring out is rapidly going to become obsolete, definitely before the basic console is replaced. Anyone remember that mega drive/PC shit? |

Yeah I think the PC one might just be a fancy case or something with xbox components? I'm actually really looking forward to the next gen consoles as I really wonder where their going. Graphic and game wise alot have peaked, haven't they? |

Always room for improvement, altho I do hope they do not try to turn consoles into home media centres or whatever the ltest buzzwords are. Consoles are for gaming, PC's are multi-purpose, hence the price differences. |

I'm as confused by that announcement as M$'s console division seem to be So will there be 3 different versions of every game?? It'll just confuse the console kiddies, and everyone else will just stick with a PC. I'm a big XBOX (chipped) fan, but this is a VERY stupid and devisive thing to do IMHO |

I like the games out for Playstation way more than I like the games out for Xbox....Well... I mean, except Halo. All the rest of the games on Xbox are either out for the PC (where I can play them in good-looking resolution) or they just plain suck. Whereas the games for Playstation rock. My favorite: Dynasty Warriors 4. |

apart from the PS having a miles better pad, nothing, they are both worse than Zelda and therefore not worth bothering with 
on the xbox 3 styles... BAD! Its a terrible idea to change architecture for a console, and slip from a standard configuration, the whole point is efficiency through years of solid development on a single platform (even if it has the same UI for years which is inferior to a keyboard and mouse anyway )
That's one thing you can learn from nintendo's attempts to plug shit in the bottom of their consoles, nobody buys them and it loses loads of money. I think its going to flop (idea not the console), or at least cost m$ more and end up as just one or the other on the market. Who knows, with this maybe we'll just get PC games, then the Xbox can render itself pointless to the land of mediocrity. Lets see if they can make a go out of it, where every other console maker has totally screwed up each and everytime they try something like this for approaching 20 years

Methinks I sense a 'wavebird' upgrade for the PSX pad? Poor nintendo, they invent the dpad, stolen by everyone, they invent the shoulder button, stolen by Sony and doubled, they use an analogue input for 3d games (duh!), stolen and doubled by sony, they invent/relaunch the rumble pack, stolen and cheapened by Sony, they invent the pad addins and trigger button, stolen and flopped by Sega, Sega invents 'lets analogue buttons too', stolen by nintendo and sony, then the whole thing is stolen by M$
I get the distinct feeling that Sony's development lab is just two guys sat outside Nintendo with a pair of binoculars. History of the Pad PSX Pad = snes pad with handles and extra shoulder buttons Dual Analogue Pad = PSX Pad + dual analogue Dual Shock Pad = Dual Analogue Pad + Vibrator
PS2 Dual Shock Pad = Dual Shock Pad + analogue buttons + Black paint
I'm suspecting it will be: PS3 Wave2 Shock Pad = PS2 Dual Shock Pad + 'wavebird' Tune in next year for the exciting answer...

Methinks you, Spud, and I admire different things about consoles. See, I dont like Gamecube. And that's not a comment on styling. I don't care about styling as long as it's functional, and as far as I'm concerned P2 and Xbox and Gamecube are functional in terms of styling. I want cool games, and lots of em. Now, I've never owned an Xbox, but I can say that from what I've read, the PS2 games are all much better. As far as Gamecube goes, I could care less and I'd never buy one. Why not? Because they cater to a sort of gamer that I'm not. I don't want innocent Disney-world-esque games like the newest Zelda and etc. I want blood and guts and zombies and ultra-violence. So...That's why I didn't keep arguing with you about Xbox 2 vs. PS3. I don't know which is the best console. I do know, however, from what I know about Playstation that more games are made for Playstation that I like. So it's really a preference thing. Can ya dig it? |

so in the end its nintendo that make great consoles and the rest of the world just rip them off, what a bummer.... its no strange when ppl cant mod the console they dont want it either and that cant greedy nintendo understand its harakiri or nothing over there in china land
i just cant nearly wait on what next will happen in the consol soap world... will nintendo be pushed out completly, who will M$ and sony rip ideas from then?? will ppl buy xbox pc when they have a pc?? is ps3 better than xbox and is xbox still a concol when its a pc?? will sega come back? is there a future in consol's when 99% of the ppl want a computer to play with?? alot of questions but i guess we will get answer in 2005/06.... |
