Is it ??

According to Play and Amazon it's available for immediate shipping which would lead me to believe it's out.

Sure is, been out since Friday 12th.

Most Game stores in the UK did midnight openings for it.

Been playing on my bro's new crystal xbox with it all weekend

lol, steam isn't actually that bad. Used to be terrible, but I quite like it. Only problem is having to download on new machines and b/w aint exactly cheap.

But I like auto-updates which it does, and it also lists all the mods and what not you might be interested in.

I was going to buy a boxed copy, but I don't think I will to be honest. Maybe download a pirate version too.

oh and thx for the other source engine game, that engine is the best thing since the Quake II engine for FPS.

How are they going to pirate this game if you have to authenticate every copy via the Steam servers?
It would seem rather difficult, like trying to hack the product activation on XP Home.

I don't know. I don't think I'll get a pirated copy of this. I mean, how much is it for a real copy? 60 bucks?
And I know it'll be worth it. Gamespot gave it a 9.2 out of 10.

I'm buying this too (over steam in the end!)
As for the piracy thing, they'll do what they've already done with CS:Source which is to run a fake Steam server on the PC while you install / run the game :)

IIRC Emporio are releasing the cracked version late today / tomorrow, they've repeatedly said they'll let valve actually release the game first before they release the cracked version. It'll be interesting to see if they give them a day @ retail too :)

i'm afraid we'll have to wait for a pirated version, cause the game has to be so cool that the uber-crackers are playing with it right now instead of cracking it.

Irony of ironies, my pc won't boot since yesterday. Hopefully it will be booted when I get home this after, but I'm not holding my breath:

I can live wihtout HL2 for whatever, I mean I waited this long, but its a mare since I have a lot of coursework I have to do. :?

:-o That sucks.

Out of interest, have you looked at your voltages in the BIOS to see how they look, when I had the problem with my PSU, the I/O voltage was significantly under expected but the PC gave me no warnings at all.

also found this :

if you have a "freeze problem" its most likley a hardware conflict.

you need to turn off ACPI Computer mode and set to Standart PC mode and all drivers new.

In WinXP :

Control Panel->System->Device Manager->Computer-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC

Update the driver to Standard PC (this disable the ACPI)

Double-click 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC'
Open 'driver' tab
Select 'update driver'
Select 'Install from a specified location'
Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install'
Select 'Standard PC'

Reboot and let WinXP reinstall all the drivers for the hardware

that it ....
