Well you might be aware that nvidia doesn't even have a footing in the console market. Gamecube is ATI, m$ was nvidia, but they fell out and its now ATI, and PS2 is a custom job. Well it seems that Sony have chosen Nvidia as their gpu manufactor:

OK. OK OK OK. If you recall, I recently said that PS3 would be better than a lot of other consoles. I find that I have to take that opinion back, because Xbox is going to be ATI, plus Xbox has the fighting game series Dead or Alive, which rocks ass. I hate Nvidia. Why would Sony do something this stupid? |

because they're stupid by any chance? ![]() I don't hate nvidia, but I recognize as it stands ATI are the better chip manufactors still. |

I do hate Nvidia. 1) NVidia knew the DX 9 specification for quite a while, yet they turned out the GeForce FX cards, which so far.... underpeforming is too kind a word. It cannot run DX 9 games acceptably. 30 FPS (average, it could fall in many places) in Half Life 2 on a hotrod system, is simply unacceptable. By no stretch of the imagination can I see this problem ever being fixed. The FX cards simply have a broken architecture. Where did those millions of transistors go? Are they just spinning their wheels in DX9? 2) NVidia worked with Valve presumably for a long time, and they knew the GeForce FX was going to have problems with it. Yet they kept the industry in the dark about these problems and hid the fact that the FX is a DX 9 product in marketting spin only. 3) Smaller developers will not be able to make NVidia specific code and hold down developement time and costs, yet there are now thousands of FX cards they have to support. Smaller developers are the lifeblood of PC gaming, if they can't get their foot in the door, PC gaming is doomed. And I cannot see NVidia simply helping smaller developers out of charity. 4) DX 9 benchmarks across the board are showing the FX cards underperforming, so much so that a card that costs half as much is beating it consistently. This is not a game specific problem, it's much deeper than anything a patch will fix. These are things Nvidia couldn't have just overlooked. These are conscious decisions. Nvidia, much like Intel, can rot in hell. |

well.... I would suspect this is about money (what a surprise) and/or nvidia has something new to show? just guessing but I agree, considering the present situation I can't understand why Sony would choose nvidia over ati if not for some of the above reasons. |

What the hell does that mean? ATI already has an advantage over it's rival. It's called DX9 benchmarks. Who WROTE that? Yeah, definitely not going PS3 here. They have their thumbs up their asses. I might have to...BUY something from Microsoft. :-o |

http://www.megagames.com And they're right, nvidia and ATI are about the same in terms of sales. Not everyone is informed about performance and whilst companies still choose an inferior product it can exist in the market place untilt hat changes. I think they are referring to advantage in terms of market dominance. |

Agreed. But corporations who put out...I don't know...stuff...are going to be aware of this trouble. And if PS3 crashes and burns with an Nvidia emphasis...it's going to be as bad for Nvidia as it will be for Sony. Same with Xbox2 going crazy with an ATI emphasis. As good for ATI as it is for M$. Can ya dig it? |

well if it comes out a year after m$ then this time around, sony are going to have the better console. ATM, sony has the worst hardware by far, but the market dominance. ... weird huh? m$ may even do a dreamcast if they dont handle it properally. |

May we all hope and pray that happens. Nothing against ATI. I have all respect for them and I wish them the best. I even talked my Mom into getting a Notebook with an ATI Vid Card in it, even though she has no use for a 3D card whatever. But I hope and pray for the destruction of Microsoft, and if you want to make an omelette you gotta break some eggs. |

na, I don't want to be stuck with crap consoles, and since i prefer xbox to ps2 by far, I hope it doesn't from a consumer point of view. Its microsoft, and they deserve some super freaky shit, but the Xbox is a nice console (ugly and crap pads, but since its so pc in nature, you can do more, better ![]() Only console, as always, I care about is Nintendo's, since I'm a big zelda fan ![]() |

I've never played any of them ![]() I'm not interested in fps on consoles that much, and I prefer modern day, or at least black powder weapons over lasers.... i've seen it, but it never sparked my interest. I loved the SNES version though of course, that was really cool ![]() I have it on a DVDr somewhere, should I boot up and play? |

Look at that state of the art 3D. That reminds me of another game that has been turned into something completely different. That's right. Prince of Persia. Remember playing that on a 486? ![]() |
