Post subject:  Firefox Addons

I thought it might be nice to have a thread on all the great add ons available for firefox. I just installed a few i got from this site...

https://addons.update.mozilla.org/?application=firefox

I really like the Noia 2.0 (eXtreme) firefox theme. Looks pretty cool. Haven't tried the other themes yet but some of the other addons i like. :)

So if you have any updates for firefox can you post them here? Is the latest version still 1.0? Or is there a later release?

How can you use themes?

You download and install the theme you want. Then close firefox and reopen it, go to tools -themes-select the theme you want and click Use Theme.

I heard of an add-on for Firefox that adds "Open in Internet Explorer" to the right click menu, for the few sites where the developers have been too short sighted to test the site on Firefox.

I can't find it on the list of add-ons though........ :(

Flashgot combined with leechget is quite a powerful download manager.

I like Focus Last Selected Tab, Menu Editor (always missed this in other apps), MiniT, OpenBook, Paste and Go (for me, this one is essential), Session Saver, Tabbrowser Preferences.

Looking for a *working* extension to add close buttons to bookmarks, and to add multirow bookmark display.

Also, it would be nice to have a working extension for Thunderbird to send mail in the background.

EDIT: I love all those extensions, but sometimes it's a pain in the ass. I've just installed several, just to try them, and one of them has fucked up my Firefox, so that it hangs up fo a few seconds up to one minute right after launching. Uninstalling didn't help, in fact, I think this happened after I had uninstalled them. So now I guess I'll have to remove firefox, manually delete all its folders and setting, and do a clean install.

The lesson is: why change it, if it's working?

Has anyone got a recommendation for a download manager for Firefox?

I tried to use flashgot, but it refuses to work :(

your not going to like it, but yes, I recommend FlashGot

You've got an actual download manager installed right? Getright, leechget, etc. all work no problems with flashgot.

Aah, sorry I fucked that post up

I'm running Flashgot (which works fine) but I've installed leechget which refuses to pick up clicks in firefox and isn't recognised as installed by flashgot either, anyone know why??

I have that EXACT same problem, and it's really irritating. Flashgot refuses to pick up Leechget. I've tried restarting my computer, reinstalling, etc. Nothing.

Firefox is picking up the clicks now, but flashgot is just refusing to acknowledge the existance of leechget :(

At the risk of possible taunting and ridecule on your part , you've installed the leechget mozilla plugin right? ;)

You know the one you have to install to get it to download from mozilla, the one it tells you to download on the leechget website.

I mean that would be almost as silly as not selecting leechget from the list in the flashgot options, given that you need to obviously install the plugin to get it to appear on the list.

but of course, you'll have done all that :)

I'm using flashgot and it works perfectly for me, both for FF 1.0 and 1.0.1. But you know what, I remember one version didn't detect my download managet, and I think it was the latest one. So perhaps you should try with the previous one - I think it's not yet updated on https://addons.update.mozilla.org/, you could try there.
