Hey guys, what are your opinions of VLC as a main media player?

I only ask cos it starts up faster than anything else I have, uses a little more RAM but this is not a problem. The main thing is that playing an AVI will use around 15% cpy in WMP, about 20% in BSPlayer and 2%!!!!!!!!! in VLC.

ANyone care to enlighten me as to why it uses so little CPU compared to everything else?

It's pretty much all I use as a media player. It has played everything I have thrown at it (including a file Gspot didn't recognize), and I only don't use it when I'm watching a movie with separate subtitles.

I'm also curious as to why it uses so little CPU space.

it just doesn't do stuff as well as media player classic, by that I mean it glitches sometimes, and the UI is a bit sluggish and backwards.

I have it on my system, but media player calssic just seems to play better and is easier to use, so I tend to keep using that.
