I'm not decided as to the PC for mame, It'll end up using either a PIII 733 with 512 Mb ram or an Athlon 2400+ with 512Mb ram.
Which ever I don't use will be / become my emule machine. I'm going to add a spinner and a trackball at some point in the future too ;)

This is my first Jamma machine, so I'm quite looking forward to the challenge :D

I'll let you know how I get on if you're interested.

I build and sell arcade cabs with my mate at the computer fair every time it comes round my way. Just got the Mame .82 complete set (chd + all extras)

I find that Slick Stick isa great controler as it has it all packed in.. a spiner, pinball buttons, 2 7 button joysticks, and track ball.

You will need somthing like this IPAC it is a keyboard encoder to convert all the signals to the joystick.

Ultimate Arcade Get some decent plans fomr here[/url] for arcade cabs.

have fun and mame on!!!

Remeber the PC can run anything on those boxes... I 2 of em under my house next to the barbie and we play everything on it. Mame, The Nitendo consoles, the Sega, Intelavision, Chello, Atari, Even a few PC first person shooters networked!!

Long live the Arcade!!!

PS - I am almost a full registered user of the Mame Burners Project. A buch of rom heads who mail out full mame sets for free (what is in it for us you say.. well heavy contact with the release groups so you all end up with 100% rom sets!!)

Free Rom Burners

Yor going to LUV haveing a arcade mate... they are so mych fun and retro as hell!! People get a kick just by lookn at em!! PS - When I used to work in a arcade as a student I once recoded all the sounds of it and mailed it to my mate in the country. As he the sound in those places are so full on back in the day when they bleeped and stuff.. now it is all music and recorded audio. I think I still got the tape I'll encode it and post it in emule.. so you can run it on the speaker when you play LOL

I've been into mame since forever and my nick comes from a site that I used to run with two mates.

Always dreamed of getting a cab and finally just though "fuck it" and bought one :) (ironically for less than my X-arcade joystick)

I've just ordered a j-pac to hook the PC up, I assume I need some kind of butchered scart to connect the consoles?

It all seems fairly straight forward, the only bit that is a little confusing is the soundcard, but I think I'll just bung some PC speakers in the cabinet

J-pac are good, but they have a lot of problems. Many games will lose vertical hold or apear real dim. (last time I ever loked at the that is)

BTW Jynks, the monitor is a wells gardner (not sure about the model number though).

I haven't heard that issue with the J-pac, one question I do have though, do Nvidia cards sync down to 15Khz?

I want a arcade cabinet too!! It's a shame I'm too far from the heat.. By the way, Jynks what should I do to join the Free Rom Project? I read the info at the site, but I'm still confused. Can you give information about what you do in this group?

Not much just join there message baod and ask to become a burner... they will ask you for proof of your rom sets so just rom check them and send the 0 error txt file output.

You do not need all the CHD's to join.

Once you join all the other members basicaly help you out to make sure you are 100% full and uptodate...

Just recived my n64 pack with all known 2741 roms :)
