I'm sick of it!!!

Slow reacting, mass memory & cpu consuming, bloated piece of shit!

I guess I could always install ver. 2 again... that wasn't too bad, but is there something else I should try out?

There's another app I've heard alot of good things about (can't remember the name right now) but the GUI was almost non-existant, so I found it clumsy to work with...

Winamp 5 with a "modern" skin = slow, like winamp 3
Winamp 5 with a "classic" skin = fast, like winamp 2

that was the one I meant with the clumsy GUI. Where's the volume bar? I know you can turn it up and down with the + & - keys, but I like to see it as well. Where's the EQ? Where can I read the ID tag of the files I'm playing? Is there a skin or something to make it a little more userfriendly?

There's absolutely millions, upon millions, upon millions ;)

The entire point of foobar is modulisation, just look at the sheer amount of components available to download. It can play pretty much anything.

Well the winamp one lets u use any winamp skin, then there's other ones like this:

which allows you to plug together your own one.

So that's every winamp skin, there's a handful there, then any skin you want to make plus there's lots of hits on google too, these come from the first 10 or so, so its not like there's an absense or anything. So I'm not quite sure what you mean :S

Personally I'd rather use the default one, I hate skinning, nothing but bloat and its kind of anti-foo :lol:, tabbed playlists is a godsend, but beyond that. So I uses this to organise playlists if i need to:

how about not being a dumbass? hehe.. j/k ... sounds like someone that's just thrown together a plugin, its generally just open source peeps; probably didn't know how to make a self-installing .exe, or didn't have the licensing ;)

Then again to be fair, if i read that right you extract two files and change your "default user interface module"? First place I would have looked would be under display, and it looks like that's where it was installed to anyway.

Not using many none standard plugins myself, if you come across a good one let us know though :)

oh and besides the sound quality, the multi-tabs and the non-fussy nature, its that search function that's a winner with GBs upon GBs of mp3s, makes it very easy to find mp3s

oh and how you can highlight a track, and then it will play that one next, jumping between playlists.

Don't use any advanced features beyond them that i recall,

Its weird there's no volume on the default gui, I'd never noticed, i got some decentish speakers so there's a hardware volume and channel balance on a remote on my desk, so always use that.

There's probably a plugin to stick one on the dash, probably better doing that, no need for skins, its minimized to tray most of the time anyway :)

Not noticed Winamp getting all recource heavy - didn't AOL get involved with them? Does Foobar have EQ? I have only used it to Rip MP3 back to .WAV so I can make them smaller for my MP3 player.

Placebos :D

Just loaded Winamp and an MP3 - only using 10Mb RAM and 0% CPU - goes to 5% when skipping the track - it's a 40 min Live track.

Media Player :D 15Mb - 10% CPU - skipped 3/4 through - hit 99% and froze for 3 secs then used 17Mb - Oooer Matron.
