I've just installed a 600Gb RAID and windows is now formatting it (I did it via the commandline so I get a %complete)

Is there a quicker way to format the disks? Windows is taking FOREVER, it's been at 0% for absolutely ages

yeah, don't use windows to format  Parition Magic is faster isn't it.

When i installed 400GB RAID and formatted though, it didn't take very long at all, it didn't get stuck at 0%. Have you installed your raid correctly, in 0?

Turns out one of the drives was faulty
One of them formatted fine, the other isn't even seen by windows

Ah. Probably a good time to point my experience with RAID was that it provided no improvement's what so ever.

barry, my SATA RAID read/write rate is way, way, higher than standard SATA. There's a big improvement here.

If its a network drive RAID owns standalone.
